I haven't played an assassin since the old days of D2 Vanilla. Am running one now alongside my buddies barb and bowzon.

I've maxed claw mastery, have one point into the essentials like claw block, fade, burst of speed, etc, but am now sitting on a massive pile of skill points iwth no idea what to do with them.

-Previously everyone maxed fade, but in the latest patch my understanding is fade no longer grants dr% so it may not need to be maxed.
-Crunched the math on venom and I can't see how it can ever amount to that much late game damage. Am i right in assuming its not worth it? (I think it only gives about 1k poison damage at lvl 20 on normal)
-Is maxing phonenix strike + synergy worth it?
-Are traps in HU viable? If so which ones?
-Dragon claw?
-Tiger strike? I've heard tiger strike has a multiplicative as opposed to addative relationship with dragon tail leading to the potential for a ridiculous amount of damage. Does this apply to tigerstrike with dragon claw as well?

Any help anyone can offer is appreciated!

I can help on a few, but many know much more than I do off the top of my head about many of the melee skills. I have not played a sin in a very long time either.

-Remember venom is over a really short duration. is it still a self synergy? Also remember that there are 2 tiers above level 20 when it comes to what skill damage is added every level. I don't know what damages are common (see above).

-Traps are viable indeed. I tend to see more fire trappers than lightning, but not too long ago lightning viability was brought up, and those that generally play them say they are in a good spot. Note that traps are also placed at your feet at all times (not the spells in the tree...traps).

Venom damage even at level 45 prebuff was negligible.

I've read about somethign called pious' build... supposedly somethign rediculously tanky assasin... how on earth does it work?

How many points are worth putting into clawblock in 1.51a since it's been adjusted to reflect hard points?

And is a phoneix sin viable in hell?

Dclaw is alright, problem is it just gets interrupted.

The fire claw/phoenix does alright, but again it gets interrupted. However, crunching some numbers, the fireclaw meteor spam can do astronomical damage if you manage to actually just spam them as quick as possible.

Traps are terrible, don't even bother.

Tstrike+dtail is alright, but it falls off late nm/early hell.

Venom isn't too good either, in any case it's extra damage.

The best build out there is a bladesin, but dclaw can do just as well, since essentially any sin is nothing more than a tank to eat heals while a real DPS blows bosses up.
