I'm new to the mod and only played single player mode (killed normal Andariel).

I found the drop rate is pretty high so it is easy to farm some super uniques and expect it can drop a lot of rare items or even set and unique items. Runes, games, sockets and glyphs can all sell a high price so I never ran out of money since there's no need to craft or make runewords at this point.

Does gambling still do anything good? If so, what kind of items should I gamble, circles, rings, amulets, or ...? I'm just wondering.

Really depends on what you need. I gamble whenever I have a few million in gold. Some will gamble more than others. I generally stay away from gambling class specific items, though.

Crafting is pretty good at all points in the game.

Yeah, I was considering crafting, but soon I found it was a bit stupid to save up gems in a fairly low level. I just ran out of chest space yesterday when I fought Duriel.
I carried a full cube of light potions to fight Duriel, but only managed to hurt 1/3 of his life bar.

So I sold half of my runes and gems to buy some skulls, hoping 3000ish thorn damage can take him down more quickly. I'll see next time.

Ah, that is too bad. Oh my skulls ... *sob*

Well I tried that yesterday anyway, with nearly 3600% thorn damage and lvl 1 amp, no luck.

I should have try gem-shrining some diamonds instead.

Both in tandum I say. For example, every unique ring has dropped in your game, go gamble rings all day in that game and get a conc ring :D

Gambling imo is good for: (A.) Set Items. (B.) +3skill Amulets. (C.) +3 skill Coronets. Gamble a rare then roll with glyphs. (D.) +1 skill rings. (E.) All-Res Jewels. There are many others but those are the basic ones.

I have a question. If I want to gamble elite items, what is the minimally possible level?
Now I'm at level 68 and have defeated Baal.

You can't gamble elite items. Unless you consider the higher level jewelry elite.

Low end elites should start dropping around late A2 NM. Just depends what base you wanna shoot for I guess.

That sounds good.
I want to craft caster weapon and armor. So I guess a pair of phase blades and a dusk shroud should be enough.

-----------

Edit*

Or maybe I can try a 3wc sword if there's any. Or perhaps such thing does not exist in HU anymore.

You can shop +3 WC blues as early as A1 NM. Phase blades are level 85 and won't be showing up till Hell. You could try crafting something like a small crescent axe which is elite and I believe low 60's(I wanna say 58 IIRC). There's a few other low end elites that are able to have 4 sockets that would work fine as well. Hoto is also a decent option if you can find the runes. Dusk shroud is level 70 and you probably won't see one until late A4 NM at the least.

Are you using a source of amp or decrep? Or are you just focusing on the magic damage side? I'm interested to see how this build is doing as I initially thought the damage split would hurt the build. Also what patch are you playing? Still 1.3c?

I updated to 1.3f before fighting Baal.

Strange enough I gambled a level 71 dimensional blade and used lots of glyphs, but I didn't see any 3wc affix. I got two +2 barbarian skills though. I wonder if the 3wc affix has an even higher level (I saw lots of 3wc amulets though).

Yeah, I'm focusing on magic damage now, 2 caster swords gemmed with 8 perfect diamonds, providing 48 magic pierce I think.

The character is now level 68 and deals about 10k damage per cast. I fought Samhain yesterday and failed, but he was almost dead so I guess I will kill him next time if I'm careful enough and have enough rejuvs.

The problem so far is I'm worrying about the final damage. The skill tree is almost complete, so I guess with end game gears the final damage should be around 20k.

I did some experiments yesterday.

When the item level is 72 (my character level is 68, so the crafted item level is 70) I can get +2 barbarian skills mod on weapons. For a caster weapon, it is +3 to all skills, pretty impressive at this level.

I still can't get +3 to barbarian skill tree mod using the glyph recipe (maybe the chance is too low or I just had bad luck). But I once gambled a +3 to druid elemental skills rare axe, and its item level was only 63...
