Nazar is a Paladin, a Knight of Westmarch. Nazar had heard about the troubles the rouges were having in the west and decided to venture and lend his aid. He was always the adventurous type, his fellow Paladins always said it would get him killed one day. Perhaps they were right...

I will be updating this story as it continues. He is a hardcore character, playing solo and non twink.

After Nazar defeated the demon Andariel, Warriv took him East, to the city of Lut Gholen. Nazar is now after the one known only as the Dark Wanderer, wherever he goes he seems to leave a wake of terror in his path. Perhaps in time the mystery will unfold itself, but for now Nazar has his sights on a different fiend...

...to be continued...

I'm glad someone is attempting this. I had tried this earlier in the year (back in Jan/Feb) on my own, untwinked with a fury druid. After getting up to somewhere in Act 3 normal on my own, I decided it was too much of a time commitment for the long haul. Would like to see how far you get. Just know that you will be spending 90% of your time later on farming for gear. Best of luck!

Yes! I remember her, I enjoyed that one alot. Thats were I got the idea.

Anyways...on with the story...

Nazar entered the dark sewers of Lut Gholen not knowing what to expect, but confident in his training as a paladin, he was ready for anything. Nazar fought through hordes of undead, making his way deeper into the labyrinth beneath the city.

Image

Soon Nazar reached the lowest level of the sewers and soon encountered the monsterous ghoul that had been terrorizing Lut Gholen. Suddenly Nazar was set upon by this abomination and his undead minions. Nazar called upon the power of the High Heavens and sent a mighty hammer flying through the room in wide arcs, destroying the undead horrors as it did.

Image

Soon where an undead horde once stood only piles of bones remained, only the undead overseer remained.

Nazar charged the monster but his attempt was futile; the creature struck Nazar with a blow that seemed to drain his energy. Nazar knew then he could not win this battle with shear brute force. Nazar regained his balance and distanced himself from his foe and began to invoke bolts of holy energy to strike down this undead fiend. Nazar was amazed, what holy power that would destroy a lesser undead only burned this creature slightly and soon it began to return its own bolts of dark magic.

Image

Nazar was determined to destroy this hellish abomination and banish it into the depths of the burning hells forever. Nazar gathered himself and attempted one last charge at the beast. He crashed into it with more power than any mortal man could conjure without divine intervention and threw a magical hammer straight into the creatures chest. The creature's body was ruptured with holy light its flesh was incinerated. Nazar stood over the fiends burnt corpse in triumph.

Nazar's work was not over yet. No, his journey into the world of wretched demons and undead straight from the burning hells have only just begun. His mission now is to search the desert for the pieces of a Horadric Staff; for only it can reveal the way into Tal Rasha's chamber. Nazar can only hope he arrives there before the Dark Wanderer.

After hours of searching the desert landscape, Nazar came to an old tomb. Decaird Cain told him this was a landmark to look for and that there could be a piece of the staff inside...

Image

Suddenly inside the tomb Nazar was charged by a gargantuan demon spitting molten rock and fire from its body! Nazar hid behind his shield and assaulted the demon at every chance. Soon the demon was defeated and a ominous portal opened before him...

After retrieving the Horadric Ore from the old tomb, Nazar set out once again to find the other pieces of the staff. Lets see where his journey takes him...

Image

Image

Inside this worm hole Nazar found the queen. Nazar began to kill the bug, suspecting it of being corrupted by the Dark Wander and because he hates bugs and enjoys squashing them with hammers.

Image

As he suspected underneath the worm queen was a hidden room and inside Nazar found a Horadric Staff.

After further exploration of the desert Nazar came to a Temple inhabited by a race of sentient serpent creatures. Nazar could sense dark magic at work and indeed these serpents were hostile, perhaps they are guarding something.

Image

Inside the temple Nazar encountered a high priest of the serpents. Nazar readied himself for a fight but his lovely companion Raissa was leagues ahead of him and sent multiple arrows flying at the priest. The arrows hit their mark and the serpent priest was struck down.

Image

In the middle of the room was an altar and on it, Nazar found the last piece of the Horadric Staff.

Back in Lut Gholen the palace is under attack from the inside by an army of grotesque demons and undead Now with the Horadric Staff in hand Nazar push back these demons, find the Summoner of these creatures, uncover the mystery of Tal Rashas Tomb and gain passage to the Canyon of the Magi. It may sound like a lot but our hero has proven himself capable thus far.

In the lowest level of the palace cellar Nazar found a dark portal where these demons and undead arrived, perhaps a portal that will lead Nazar to the Summoner... BUT OH NO THERE'S A SUPER ZOMBIE IN THE WAY!!!

Image

Luckily, Nazar is expertly skilled in man handling undead and has done so before, so it really is not a big deal.

Nazar now stands before the dark portal. He knows what he must do, but is questioning whether or not he is ready. He wonders how long until one of these demons gets the better of him, how long until one, just one arrow hits the right spot and everything ends right there...but then Raissa pushes him into the portal...bitch.

Nazar finds himself in a dimension unlike anything he had ever seen.

Image

Nazar searches this arcane world for the summoner and after fighting hordes of goat demons, apparitions and ghouls, he finds himself before the Summoner himself. Nazar notices that behind the Summoner are sarcophagi and undead cadavers begin to stumble out of them. He realizes if he does not stop these sarcophagi he will soon be over run. Nazar quickly acts and charges past the Summoner and into the hordes of cadavers and begins invoking magical hammers to smite the undead. In a whirlwind of divine power the undead horde is finally put to rest.

Image

Now only the Summoner is left. Nazar charges him and smites the Summoner with his shield and the Summoner collapses. Perhaps now the trouble at the Palace will end.

Image

A portal opens to a remote platform in the Summoners sanctuary and there is a book on a pedestal. It contains knowledge of the location of the true Tomb of Tal Rasha and when Nazar closes the book a portal opens before him...

Once inside the Tomb of Tal Rasha Nazar finds a room with unique inscriptions and a strange hole in the ground. He inserts the Horadric staff into orifice and lightning engulfs the room and the crackling of stone is heard. Once the smoke cleared Nazar sees a hole in the wall. Not knowing what lies waiting on the other side, he readies himself. He prays to the High Heavens to watch over him and give him strength and enters, knowing this moment may be his last...

The room is dark and Nazar can see nothing. There is a horrible stench of rotting flesh. Nazar suddenly hears a shuffling sound...and he quickly casts a spell and the chamber is filled with light. But it is too late Nazar turns around too see his companion Raissa crushed by a colossal demon.

Image

The demon charges Nazar, but he narrowly dodges the demons sweeping claws. Nazar quickly circles the demon and lands a blow in its fleshly backside. The demon turns to face him with demonic speed and brings his claws down upon Nazar, but they glance off his shield. The demon is in a frenzy and relentlessly assaulting Nazar and he must keep his shield up to keep from being crushed like poor Raissa. The demon swings again but this time Nazar strikes back with his shield and the demon staggers for a second. That's all it takes. Nazar seizes the moment and strikes the demon with a flurry of hammers. The demon pulls back and rears up on its hide quarters. Nazar puts his shield up to defend himself. The demon comes crashing down; not in aggression, but rather, defeat.

Further into the tomb Nazar find the Arch Angel Tyreal and explains everything that is happening.

Image

The demon Nazar defeated moments ago was Duriel, the Prince of Pain. The Dark Wanderer is no other than Diablo, the Lord of Terror himself and he has freed his brother Baal, the Lord of Destruction, who was imprisoned in this very tomb. Now they are on their way to the jungles of Kurast, to the Temple of the Zakarum, to reunite with their brother Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred.

Nazar now must travel to Kurast and stop the three brothers before they unleash hell upon the world, even if that means going into hell itself.

Now our hero has arrived at the docks of Kurast. It turns out Raissa was feigning death all along. Nazar did not question her loyalty to him and THE QUEST, he was just glad to have his sexy companion back. Anyways...The Temple of Zakarum has been corrupted by the Dark Lord Mephisto and his zealous servants have pushed back the people of Kurast to the docks. The city's last defensive is a magical barrier conjured by a local mage.

Nazar must now search for the pieces of Khalims Flail and make his way through the jungles of Kurast to the Temple of the Zakarum.

After scooting around the jungle Nazar has come to a strange lair.

Image

He goes inside, knowing how often people put their organs, which are also pieces to a magical flail, in strange holes.

Image

Deeper inside the spider cavern he find the Matriarch. Nazar attacked it think it would be an easy battle, but the Matriarch's web slowed Nazar's movement. He soon became fatigued this battle was very prolonged.

Image

Once the Matriarch knew she faced certain death she began to flee. Nazar laughed at this and mocked her. Oh, how he hates these poor creatures.

Image

Nazar felt ashamed that he lost his composure, but damn it he hates bugs. Once she was dead Nazar gutted her and found an eye. What the hell kind of flail is this...

Outside of the spider hole Nazar met a fellow paladin, Shingami. Shingami was also on his way to Kurast and so the two traveled there in style. Holding hands, skipping and singing, "Fa la la, la la," the whole way

...

...Ok, maybe not that last part.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Together the two holy warriors swiftly cut a path into the heart of Kurast and soon came to the foot of the Temple of Zakarum. There was a large group of demons and corrupted followers of Zakarum guarding the entrance to the temple grounds. Nazar began to devise a plan, but Shingami did not wait and charged ahead in a zealous rage...

Image

Nazar was stunned at first, but soon ran after his brother. Smiting demons and corrupted zealots aside with ease, but it still was not fast enough. When Nazar cleared the area, Shingami was no where to be found...only his weapon remained.

Image

Image

Nazar was thirsty...for blood!

He charged the remaining enemies and let out a storm of divine hammers, killing all but one. This foe was no regular corrupted zealot; Nazar soon found this out as he was hit by three lightning bolts and was sent flying back. The warrior continued bombarding Nazar with lightning. Nazar needed to recover quickly, but he was not given the chance. The dark warrior charged with lightning speed and soon Nazar found himself drained of energy; unable to fight. Nazar began to meditate and found the willpower to continue this battle. Nazar bashed the warrior with his shield and the warrior dropped his shield. Now was their chance, Raissa decided to help and began to fire arrows into the demon and he was easily put down.

Image

Nazar pushed further into temple. It was difficult to kill so many of his former brethren, but they were no longer the men he once knew.

Image

Nazar cleared the temple grounds, set up a base camp and then ventured back into the jungle to recover the rest of the flail.

Khalim's brain was found inside a the belly of a Chimera, deep in the jungle and guarded by an army of fetish demons. His heart was found under neath the ruined city of Kurast in its sewers.

Image

With the three body parts in his possession, Nazar now returned to the temple to kill the High Council and retrieve the flail itself.

The council members although enchanted with demonic powers, were weak and frail; no match for our battle hardened hero.

Image

Image

Image

With the complete flail in hand Nazar smashed the orb sealing Mephisto's Durance shut and opened the way.

Image

Nazar fought his way through the dark halls of Mephisto's lair. Screams that would haunt Nazar for the rest of his life were heard echoing through the corridors. Always surrounded by demonic fiends, Nazar remained steadfast and with the help of lovely Raissa made his way into the lowest level of the durance.

Image

Nazar could see a succubus, clearly the leader of these demons, at the far end of the antechamber and he knew that she would lead him to Mephisto. BUT OH NO IN THE WAY IS A WALL OF ZOMBIES!!!

Image

For any other hero this would be a problem but Nazar and his magical spinning hammers make killing undead as easy as 1, 2. Yeah, that's right...he doesn't even need a "3"

The succubus sent her vanguard of demons charging at Nazar. He braced himself for the impact, but just as the demons reached Nazar spiraling hammers swung around and banished them back to hell.

Image

Nazar now rushed towards the succubus, and so did Raissa... Raissa was turned into a block of ice and shattered by the succubus.

Image

Nazar was furious and with a burst of divine magic burned the flesh from the succubus and reduce her into a pile of ashes.

A portal opened itself before Nazar...

...

The Portal brought Nazar to a grand chamber and in the middle a large ominous portal stood in a moat of blood. Nazar was too late, Diablo and Baal have escaped.

Image

Nazar then saw him, The Lord of Hatred himself. He was a hideous monstrosity standing as tall as two men with gargantuan claws that could tear a man in two. No mortal man could even hope to survive and encounter with this demon, let alone defeat him. However, Nazar is much more than a mere mortal, he is protected by the High heavens and this is his destiny.

Nazar knew he would not be able to defeat Mephisto at a distance, he needed to get close to kill him. Nazar charged at Mephisto, hoping to catch him by surprise, but the Lord of Hatred was far above being ambushed. Huge spikes of bone erupted from the ground around Nazar and he slammed into them. Nazar burst through the cage with a mighty swing of his shield. Mephisto was once again a step ahead and sent a spear of bone flying at Nazar. Nazar was sent flying backwards, he tried to stand up but could not. He looked down at his chest and where armor should be he saw only his entrails. This was it, he thought. His journey was over.

...

No, not yet a warm feeling came over Nazar and he found himself able to stand. His fatal wound was sealing itself and all his energy was returned. Now was not the time to question this miracle, he thought. The Lord of Hatred was truly astonished at this divine intervention. This was his chance and he took it. Nazar slammed into Mephisto with such force that it sent him back into a nearby pillar. The air around the Lord of Hatred was frigid, but it did not harm Nazar. Nazar began to pummel Mephisto with his shield and the demon tried to escape, but Nazar conjured a whirlwind of hammers to prevent this. Magical hammers cut into Mephisto from all sides. Mephisto tried to trap Nazar in a bone cage, but it was destroyed in the storm of hammers.

Image

In one last attempt the Lord of Hatred sent multiple bone spears into Nazar, but somehow they all seemed to miss.

Image

With one last burst of power Nazar sent a bolt of divine magic into the Lord of Hatred. His flesh burned away and his bones shattered, all that remained was a soul stone at Nazar feet.

Image

Image

He picked up the soul stone and wandered over to the portal in the center of the chamber. He wondered how much of his sanity was left to actually consider walking into hell. No mortal has ever returned from the burning hells with his soul intact. What he has experienced thus far will pale in comparison to what lies ahead.

Image

Nazar stares down at the soul stone in his hand. It's screams echo in his head and a chill runs through his body. He knows what he must do...

Raissa got pregnant and had to retire... you know, alone in the depths of the night... after a long, bloody and sweaty day, and there by his side lays some white and tight rogue meat... Nazar's flesh was weak after all.
