I am reinstalling hell unleashed because i want to play the up-coming update/patch. problems are as follows: increased brightness after running a version of the game. (everything is really bright after having run HU, it hurts my eyes). plain loading screen/ no custom ui interface (how do i get HU ui and menu screens?) how do i update the game to be compatible when the new patch is live? I still cant get 'Graphics FX Glider' to work. (HU is just looking like normal resolution)... I followed this guide, viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3197 Can someone please HELP!? thank you, (I have also tried searching my problems on the forums to no avail. |

Reduce the Gamma in game settings within game. This may help with brightness. By defauslt, I believe it is set quite high. For glide wrapper, depending on Os, this can be kinda silly. I am assuming win7/win8 The last time I installed, I had to do the glide wrapper essentially during the d2 installation. I couldn't wait until afterwars to run the configuration setting for the wrapper...it just wouldn't take. (note that my machine was originally a win8 machine, and i removed the plague and put win7 on it...still somewhat wonky since bios is still win8 i think). This may solve virtually all your issues or none. |

 I tried re-installing everything and when installing; it didnt even ask to run D2VidTest.. so i dunno. this is still what it looks like, no widescreen HD or w.e and not even the cool graphic menu. ALSO! when i close the game, a pop up window says 'D2 has stopped working'. |

now when i try to join or create game, i get assertion failure with d2loader problem. So in total: NO HU graphics on menu screens or in-game UI. NO Glide resolution. Cannot get d2loader to work for game. 'd2 stopped working' when closing game. someone please let me know, i have been doing a lot of digging around of forums already. and i tried reinstalling. |

so i did 1 more full install: got rid of the d2loader problem. But the biggest problem now, is that the graphics dont work. I have a windows 7 laptop. I have the glider thing installed but i dont think it is doing anything. some problems include, the normal d2 menus (still) i cannot see graphics in game (like throwing knife projectiles) how can i get the HU menus and graphics to be HD full-screen? as well as all in-game graphics? |

 this is the kinda of graphics i am dealing with still. From playing this game before i remember HELL UNLEASHED menu's and even better in game character panel (with more stats) etc. How can I get that? I have been dealing with glide bs for awhile now. ALL HELP APPRECIATED! |

-Install vanilla LoD (hopefully pre 1.10). Don't put in program files (or x86) anymore on win7 or win8 machines...put it in C drive directly (can be elsewhere). -As it is loading, run the glidewrapper installer (glide-init.exe). I don't remember if it gives test screen if you have to do it this way. -Run videotest when appropriate (after glide is installed. it should give you the option to use Direct2d/3d or glidefx In order to see if glide is actually functioning, you can use /fps ingame, and it will show what video stuff you are using. -upgrade or downgrade to 1.10 -Make new folder at same level as LoD. (call it D2 HU or something) -Copy and paste all LoD files into this new folder -Extract core HU files first to the folder -Extract the other HU files -Run D2ModSetup.bat -Run with D2HU.bat -make sure that either the .batfile or the shortcut you make to it has these -disable desktop decomposition, compatibility mode (i use xp sp2), disable visual themes. -you may also need to run as admin...forget if really needed...i just flip all these on by default anymore. If you don't get the realm, then you may need to run the hu.reg file directly. |

i am in the process of following your instructions. but what do you mean 'install glide at the same time d2 is installing' like extract glide wrapper into d2 folder same time? also, from numerous download links, i only see HU solo or full download. I cannot find 'CORE' files independently anymore. (i want to download full). ill post progress. ATM i didnt install glide before d2 (classic) was finished installing. i am about to try extracting glide in d2 folder simultaneously while im installing xpac. wish me luck. |

So i just followed your steps. i didnt know if u meant 'extract' glide while installing d2 or LOD or RUN GLIDE while installing d2 or lod. i extracted into same folder same time. I made a new folder D2 HU. copied vanilla d2 files. downloaded a 'CORE' from http://www.moddb.com/mods/hell-unleashe ... l-eddition i just switched hu.bat and d2modsetup.bat to disable visual themes/ disable desktop composition and windows xp (sp2). usually i download a loader but first i will try without loader then again. hopefull this works for the GG graphics High RES! |

 this is what happened when trying to run game from hu.bat (without loader) after following those steps. ALSO, no HU game menus and low res. (guess) I didnt actually see in-game quality because that error message came up when trying to join a game. Going to try running from loader next. |

just tried again with loader. I can join games normally. but same graphics problem persists. I am really looking to play with HU menus, HU user interface and better resolution. If anyone wants to help with more suggestions or teamviewer that would be awesome. all help welcome! |

Under options and video resolution what's it set to. 1024x768 should be the highest if the glide worked |

thanks, i definitely had the wrong core file or none at all. i got HD res and HU menus i got the download links from viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7998 (which i think is the post you were mentioning) only problem is that when i go to close the game, all my brightness is really really high. (like on internet etc) and that even though i closed the game it says (d2 stopped responding problem) popup. I would like to fix those last 2 things. Anyone? |

The loader not responding is just a stupid issue when you use a loader posted here that sucks... get a different loader

I dont use loader so cant help there. Brightness afterwards is not an HU issue either. Its either the loader or something else that you have attached |

i know it is a stupid problem but after having HU open my desktop brightness is really high. would that be because it is the desktop composition setting or something? I am not sure. |

download the newest gfx drivers and make sure u are running the game in compatibility mode |
