I dont know if its just me, but i have been having some terrible lag / freezes the last 2 days, its like on many of the servers, but some worse then others.

Anyone else experienced it? I know some have that i have been talking with.

press "win"+R keys together
type: cmd in the box that appears
type: ping www.google.com -t
let it run a while, while you play D2. press ctrl+C to stop the command. If you get packet loss then it's something with your connection.

Otherwise I'd stay off zerolag's servers.

Stop your porn torrents while playing. =)

This can also be related to your ISP, there were some solar flares last week that can affect telecom ... but they were last week.

Are you sure it's high ping and not fps issues?

Try setting your D2 to high proirity with task manager if it isn't already

try putting D2 on low priority and see if anything changes.
I had massive fps or ping issues before, cant remember wich but I believe I solved it by turning it down to a lower priority. Worth a try either way

Pinging google will only (or rather mostly) show your latency to the googlesite(s).
It's quite possible that your connection to the realm server(s) use another route.
It's true that the beginning of both routes are probably the same, at least until the ISP is reached, but pinging destination A does not tell you if the route to destination B is working as it should be.

Are you lagging on all servers or just the US ones? (seeing you play from Scandinavia)

The server on which you are trying to play (at that moment)?

You can find the ip address via netstat (start run cmd enter netstat enter), look for port 4000 in the external address column.

edit:
Obviously, you need to start a game first.
It doesn't matter if there are N servers available, you will only connect to one game server at a time. Check that game server. You can repeat this process for other game servers if you are unsure where the problem is.

may be problem with your ISP as Duff suggested. Don't forget that from your PC to HU servers there are +- 7 different servers on the way.
For example I once saw a lan server that had ttl(time to live) set to 2, you couldn't play any games with that as any next gateway lowers ttl by 1(or fixed amount). TTL 0 is by default invalid
