Now, this is not my problem, but a friend who would like to play, and keeps getting a strange error I never seen, nor know how to fix.
It gives him an error after vid test saying no play options available, aka no 2d/3d.
It also will not load d2.
Note its approx 07-08 computer with vista, anyone know how to troubleshoot this problem?
It would be nice to get him setup and playing.

Never heard about that error, I'm playing on a vista x64 system without any major issues now (except for massive lag everytime I enter a game on fullscreen for 0,5-1 min or so).

For those with lag issues, and even those without, you should use a glide wrapper. This is the one I have had the best results with.

I am running vista 64 bit, with no issues whatsoever, 200fps on a crap card.

Can't get it to work, getting "Setpixelformat failed!".

Might be my graphics card maybe? GeForce 9650M GT 1gb.

I will peck around to see what I can find on that issue Utter.

I don't know German, but this looks like your error
Konnte kein vernunftiges Pixelformat finden!

Here is a response

the message only tells, that Windows doesn't report a useful video-mode for OpenGL-graphics. I would recommend to take a look at your graphic-card drivers, or at least to tell, what hardware you use and what drivers.

Not truly helpful, but at least sheds a tad of light on the issue.
