not giving wrong address, it tells you what your address is before you make the game.

cant log in to router to open them?

open web browser and type in 192.168.1.1

then log in to the router (info should have came with it or be on it), go to port forwarding and open the ports

Why don't you try hamachi? It's a virtual lan program, quite easy to use. Google it.

I'll look it up, thanks for the info. Is it possible to link more than 2 computers using this program? Like say 4 computers?

Yep. You can (have to, better said) make virtual networks, which can have up to 16 (or 50 if you are a premium member) people in it. Your friends just join the network, then you can play. Everyone has a hamachi ip assigned to them, you have to use these when playing over hamachi. The host of the game must turn off firewall, otherwise the other people won't be able to join.

I guess it uses the tcp/ip ingame option to join? They don't have to install the hamachi program also do they?

Yes, it uses tcp/ip and they have to install it too. But my brother and I have been using it for half year or more and no problem came up, it's very compatible.

if the address it gives you is 192.168.xxx.xxx that is your local ip address for your home network, you can see external ip at http://www.portforward.com/ and it also has guides to show you how to open the ports on your router as well. they also have a program i believe that helps you open them, but i havent used it, so i might not trust it.

Nah, it specifically says before you make the tcp/ip game tell your friends to enter this address when joining this game. And the portforwarding isn't working for me because century tell is stupid and the modem they issue doesn't have port forwarding options.
