you can't make runewords in crude quality items. They need to be normal or superior. This has been the case since b.net. |

what exactly would happen if you upgraded the sword to a normal one? I imagine it would just stay gemmed, but could it bug out, or what? |

hmm good question, can you upgrade the base items that runewords are made in? (ie. norm to sup on a rw you have already made) |

No, it will reroll everything bcos it's not upgrading base, it's changing quality of items like from magic to rare - you can extend/remove number of sockets not losing other gems/runes/jewels, nice if you want to remove 2 last socketings with dual sock and cube again with quad. As a side note - Utility in d2mod has option to enable rws in crude/norm/super/magic/rare items but it's removed as no changes were needed. |

It works but you have to save and quit before you cube with quad again, otherwise game will crash. |
