(probably a win7 problem)
I have installed D2 version 1.07 from my original install discs (which are impeccable) I have updated with an official updater to 1.10.
i have downloaded the Hell unleashed multiplayer version 13a, followed every step in the install process, tried running everything as administrator and in compatibility mode and whenever i try to connect to the server it says :

"Battle.net is unable to properly identify your application version"

I had this problem before with the normal diablo 2 on win 7 and i fixed it by running the diablo 2 exe as administrator, however win7 (no i don't use home edition :D ) doesn't let me run the bat file as administrator... Ive also tried running the diablo 2 exe original as admin to see if it would work that way with no such luck.... i would really like to try this mod out seeing as it is apparently harder than other mods.

If anyone has ideas or hopefully answers please let me know, i would be greatly appreciative.

Alexii

PS i haven't installed any windows updates since all of these tries to get Hell Unleashed working.

can edit the file that the batch file points too and place in the modifiers in there with a shortcut.

create shortcut to file then add "-direct -txt" after it...if I remember the modifiers corrrectly..might work.

If it can't verify the version you might want to update then downgrade...clean install might help...I know you may have already tried it already but you got me.

I just tired your idea with the "-direct -txt" commands in the properties of the shortcut... didn't work  also i have tried to play the mod with a downgraded 1.13c and an 1.07 install upgraded to 1.10

When you start the game, is there writing in the bottom right of the screen before you select battle.net that says d2mod system 1.03?

are you running in vista compatability mode? if not, try that.

Try getting the loader from the "Downloaded disks from blizz" topic stickied in this forum and using that.

In addition to questions other people already asked:

-Are you sure you are connecting to the Arimyth network with your D2 client?
-Are you able to connect to Arimyth network using "telnet bnetd.arimyth.com 6113"?

tbh I dunno when I had to run something "as administrator" on my win7 as I'm admin and I've turned notifications off.
Anyway - turn off firewall.
