Noticed I was running a bit low on hard drive space today for some reason. Poked around and noticed some huge text files in my main D2 folder. They're named D2090908.txt through D2090912.txt. I can't even open them without notepad crashing. Some of the files are over 3 gigs. Any ideas what these are about before I delete em?

Genius advice. They are recently made(within a week) and I'm curious of the nature of them more than anything.

3 gigs is a bit excessive tho.. mines like 15 mb... you might have something installed wrong and its spitting error codes like man.. so I'd delete em.. and when they comeback open it up to see whats happening.,

Those .txts are between 37kb and 3249kb for me. Something must be wrong on your end, maybe that's what causes your lag?

Alright, thanks. I assume they are some sort of log? I haven't reinstalled D2 in at least a few years so I guess they had just been accumulating.

Holy fuck, I had 7 files that were a total of 8 gigs, one was 4 alone. I just deleted them. Good thing I looked in here because I didn't know it and I only had about 5 gigs left remaining of my c drive!

So anyone got any ideas on how we can sort this out? It's pretty ridiculous I have to delete these files everyday. A few hours of playtime and the files are already at 3-4 gigs for me. It's probably slowing my D2 down a lot I imagine, recording that much info.

they shouldn't get any larger.... it seems like its just dumping the mods info into the txt files... possibly a one time thing.. I know mine don't increase....

do you use a loader... have -direct -txt on how do you start the game.

Mine also get to about 3 gigs everyday before I have to delete them again. I don't really notice any serious slowdowns, though. Maybe it's something to do with the new huguard?

But I do use -direct -txt to run HU because I use shelters edits for less lag. Not sure if that would be the problem though because I ran HU before years ago the exact same with no issues like this whatsoever, the only thing that changed was the new antihack, so that's my guess.

It is not HUGuard related for sure. This is prolly due to a "debug" flag still at true when Mancer did the Patch_D2.mpq.
