It has been quite a while since I played D2 in any capacity and I'm curious about trying out the new patch. My problem is that my cd-rom seems to no longer be functioning and I used to have so many copies of D2 installed that my registry values are probably all screwed from using D2 Glider (I've tried uninstalling them already). I honestly don't remember if d2loader allowed you to play without the CD. Currently when I try to open d2 it literally does nothing. No error, nothing essentially. Is there a an easy to way to wipe the d2 registry values and run d2 without a CD? I seem to recall d2loader allowing multiple instances of d2 WITH a cd in the drive. I do still have a clean copy of d2 installed |

D2SE to run without a CD. Sandboxie to run multiple instances. If you use D2SE to access live, the key and account will be banned, but it's good for mods. |

d2xvideo.mpq and d2xmusic.mpq in your folder let you run d2 on loader without a cd. |

You should also make sure you go to properties and run it in compatability mode, Windows xp service pack 3, as well as run it as an administrator. That was necessary for mine to work, otherwise I would click it and nothing would happen. |

The registry won't make a difference. If you copy all mpqs intp a clean folder: d2char d2data d2exp d2music d2sfx d2speech d2video d2xmusic d2xtalk and d2xvideo you will be fine. The non-d2se download comes with all the 1.10 vanilla files to put in your folder then overwrite them with the hu files. It also has d2 loader if you need it although I think high res plugin can run without it. |
