So I have a double throw barb, and I noticed something messing around with gear.

Darksight Helm, something happens when you equip it.

And, the bug is that you can turn axes into knives by picking up your knife in and putting it back down.

Flying Axes can turn into knives in your left, and Winged Axe can only be turned into a Knife in the right hand. I haven't tested javelins, but balrog spears dont work with it.

You need from what it appears, +4 to barb skills with throwing skills.

weird, but your SS doesn't show whether the ax is getting the explosion aoe or not? If it's not exploding and it's just a graphic error then it's not a huge deal, but if axes can be bugged to explode, that would be a problem

The graphic does explode, however it is difficult to test without being able to get cold. :X

From the sound it does appear to hit targets twice, but, not 100% sure.

So far, all I know is.

I have to
-equip highlords amulet
-equip darksight helm(not required though some other helms seem to work in its place like arreats face, but you have to have a helm)
-equip flying knife
-flying axe needs to be in left hand
-balanced axe needs to be in right hand
-war javelins work
-tried some of the different kinds of throwing some work, some dont
-pick up and reequip the dagger to activate.

When messing with the different javelins I noticed that sometimes the javelin will always fire first. It seems like the the weapons are actually swapping when you, when you pick up and reequip your your knife.

Here is another pic. I am using double throw and they both could out as knives, when I normal throw with the javelin in mainhand, it comes out a javelin.

So, that is basically what the bug is. And, I don't know if I am actually duping my knife to be in both hands. I can test that tomorrow with amp on proc.

As you can see here, naturally the knife is in my main hand, when I reequip it, then it seems to swap hands. Look at where the thrower is holding the knife in his hand.

Ok, so I thought of a quick way to test if infact my axe is splashing, and my knife isn't duped or a graphical glitch.

I used Lacerator, which has 16% amp proc. Faced the wall and spammed it. I think this pretty much confirms my findings.

well when you re-equip a weapon while dual wielding it makes it your "off-hand" weapon.

Sounds like if you have a dagger in main hand, and a jav/ax as off-hand, when you re-equip the dagger and the game is assigning your ax/jav to main hand it is keeping the aoe splash property of the knife, while also keeping it's weapon stats... a pretty nifty exploit for throwers!

after some quick testing of my own, I haven't been able to reproduce that bug, but haven't tried using the gear set up you mentioned either.

However, when I equipped a javelin in my offhand (while knife in main), both weapons were thrown as javelins (graphics, long range, and no splash). When I put the knife back in the offhand both weapons were working correctly

I cannot produce the bug without highlords at least, and at least a few skills points. For balanced Axes, I only needed +2 skills points not including highlords. For flying axes I needed +4 not including highlords.


btw does berserk synergy turn 20% of your damage into magic damage, or grant you 20% more damage as magic damage?

Wondering if it is worth putting points into.
