In the current gambling settings for hell difficulty having a gamble of an ilvl at least 5 levels above what's required to spawn the elite would actually guarantee an elite gamble. This presumes that the exceptional chance fails. The hell exceptional chance is so high that a mere 3 levels above the ilvl required to spawn causes the exceptional gamble to be guaranteed. Since exceptional is rolled first and overrides elite if successful this causes there to be no elites gambleable in NM/hell even though chances were coded for it.

I'm suspecting Soulmancer actually originally intended for elites to be gambleable (since he did non 0 settings for NM/hell), but lack of knowledge of the gambling mechanics caused him to do settings that don't even give elites a chance. I know how to exactly manipulate the exceptional/elite numbers so that a given level has x% chance to be successful.

Nothing prevents a person from gambling a constricting ring/metalgrid/facet. I leave this decision whether other elite level equips could be gambled up to the community since it's been standing for a long time as a fact that elites couldn't be gambled.

On a side note the current rare chances are coded at 20%, set chances at 2.5%, and uniques at .5% (and rest blue). If you think that alterations to the quality chances should be made as compensation for making elites available make use of the conditional option in the poll.

--Information Tack on--

It should also be noted that the quality chances can be controlled by difficulty. So it's entirely possible to set lower set/unique chances in difficulties where elites are available. The quality chances are set in .001% increments in the txt files.

I'm going with conditional, as long as we don't expand the current gamble selection to include more item types (such as Class specific items). Being able to gamble elites would really make gold and wirt's jewels a currency as being able to gamble a Templars or a Tyraels is very rewarding.

Only thing I would like is more jewels on the gamble screen.

Maybe a larger grid for more items. Or something anything.

voted no, i'm happy with the current gamble setup. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
All this does is create more incentive to sit in town gambling and running hell leo. GG now even less people want to actually play and spend all day gambling. Takes away from the thrill of finding the good elite uniques while actually.... wait for it.... here it comes........ playing the game

I agree with PureRage, I voted no. Though I do think that the chance to get a jewel to gamble should be increased.

I would like elites to be able to be gambled. Or at least up until a certain ilvl. Perhaps lvl 90?

Technically no base item requires more than ilvl 90 to spawn actually.

I am somewhat torn. I guess I would say no.

If it is allowed, then I would say to lower the chances of unique/sets for elites by a factor 2 to 5.
