Funny thing is when I first worked at implementing it I had no clue of this side effect. I only discovered it after the fact of implementing during some single player testing. Would be nice if there was some other code edit that could be pulled which would murder the rest of the hacks.

You can break godmode with a text edit.

well, when Dav releases his new version of highres we can get rid of a version without the highres plugin...
as it allows to switch between 4 resolutions instead of 2 and he plans to add some other cool stuff too, but no idea when it's going to be released or if he is even still working on it...

Actually the server side ultimately controls what drops... if a new set of god mode proof pots are introduced and the old ones are made to no longer drop entirely a simple txt file edit isn't going to bypass the fact the server side no longer has the god mode abusable pots dropping.

Well GM seems to scan for all potion codes and the potion itemtypes too ("rpot" "hpot" and "mpot")
At least the one i managed to break does. I'm still looking for other versions to see if they all work the same way

I'm not sure if there are newer versions, but the one i found is broken just by changing all potions itemcodes and giving them all new itemtypes. It would need a reset though due to changing itemtypes. it would break all existing chars with potions on them.

In GM2 you must specify which pot use for godmode(We with Prescot tested it), you can't fix it with simple txt edit, either antihack or GS update/fix.

Ew, ffs. I had a feeling there were more advanced ones. Have you taken a look at the inner workings of that one? How does it hook to the game? Does it require you to type a command in game? Maybe some code editing can fuck that one up or a feature added to D2GS to kick any player who types the required command in game.

Kinda hard to find all the hacks in circulation and it's not like anyone who uses them will say what ones they are using if we are trying to stop them working.
Any idea how many functioning GM's there actually are?

The best way seems to be to use some sort of anti-hack but Win7 ruined any opportunity or hope for a future in that. The anti-hack actually worked but it was bypassable and then become a problem when it couldn't work with Win7. That seems to be the easiest route.. problem is not many people here are professional enough in programming to achieve the task.

Although there is rather few rules on this server with some of them being loosely enforced there is one iron clad rule that has been imposed by the mod's creator Soulmancer. That is you absolutely should not use hacks (god mode, pickit, MH, etc). Loader to allow just multiple windows to help muling/load up the game you are in is the only exception. The other few rules only really get enforced should you really work at annoying the hell out of the community.
