HighMtnOolong, lvl 95 Golemancer. Necro is pretty much geared, merc needs a little work. Almost 25k hp for FG unbuffed.

Just beat norm Baal in duo with a friend (Bonemancer) that I got to come to the mod since we got widescreen :D . Went pretty damn well considering he never knew exactly what was coming next, and hadn't D2 at all in several years. Will try to get a screenshot of his as well.

try switching your resolution to 1024 through the in game options menu before taking a screenie. Photobucket can handle that size, not sure about higher.

Doubt he can damage you with that mdr/pdr, but trying to melee duriel without an uninterruptable attack is gonna be brutal. Throw in the 0% FHR, evade/dodge(if you plan on investing in them), and Duriel's HF you're looking at a long fight using CS.

Actually hit recovery can only trigger if you take more than a 1/12th of your full life bulb in damage (since the dr/mdr is so high it seems like duriel isn't really going to damage anyways). As long as block/dodge/avoid don't cancel the attacks it will be fine actually.

Actually the dury fight is all about FHR if you aint just tanking. I actually just done him in nm and he was taking nothing like 1/12 of my windys hp per hit. I was actually still struggling to cast at a good rate with 101 fhr. Blockrate was killing my cast rate too though. Also, his holy freeze rips your hit recovery rate to shreds too actually.

Well FHR is being triggered when char is stunned and/or takes 1/12 hp. Dury uses smith with high stun length so fhr is a must like it was already said.

about FHR:
1/12 is not true....
actually it is:

1/4+ of your HP = 100% chance to fhr
1/8+ of your HP = 75% chance to fhr
1/16+ of your HP = 37.5% chance to fhr

Lockdown what's with the diamonds in the templars? No facets at the moment, for the defense? Just curious. Also sexy Druid lifer ring there.

And the A1 fire mercenary geared for physical damage. Only thing she really needs is a slightly better bow, maybe a GG power craft dex amulet. She's sitting on 90% IAS(which is overkill), with level 10 fanat from the nec.

Good Luck with actually getting Hero's Reward, zeras... Your right side cold resist number is probably going to have to be at least 295 if you seriously intend to try to take on Soulmancer. Steel had to use unusual tactics and multiple attempts to actually nail that boss. Steel did actually admit that Soulmancer healed multiple times during his 2 attempts (which means it was actually several consecutive attempts just simply without taking breaks).

What's with the basing SM boss difficulty on what Steel tested? Surely there are other ways to tackle this boss than one man's strategy. Not that I know WTF I'm talking about, never even seen the boss yet. I'll be very surprised if he even gets attempted on HC this ladder, I have a hard enough time just getting my 3 man team on at the same time to quest Baal or Sam. LoS for us is still a couple weeks off, if not more. Rambling now...

Your probably going to need a specialized shield for Soulmancer as a firestorm druid. Since you have to get close you are going to need to get as close 295 cold resist (right side number) and 40% cold absorb as possible probably.

The armor is a dex/life Holy craft for full curse immunity. The DR from Fade displays fine, I have 29% DR from gear and 20% from Fade. There's no need to have stacked physical resistance when I can't be Amp'd and such.

Throw barb with shitty gear (black hades, arreats, noneth lacerator, wraith flight, cast craft boots and gloves). SS is chillin with Imp's summon druid, which has conc/fanat/might/how lol, and I got a combat shrine for the pic lol. AR goes nuts

yea I know dbl throw display is messed up, my dmg is actually much less than 100k. Also the critical strike from my throw mastery doesn't add up on the stat screen so I'm not sure if its working. The 40 some displayed is from other sources

After bitching so much about how i dont like patch ganes i took my ass and started playing. Finaly got something good for my summoner and now it truly is a non stressfull char to play. Thanx to my firend who gave me eth white cc which i turned ito this u seee on screen :D Mayby not good but darn enough for me. Only last thing i miss on my summoner to finish it for now i ber rune so i can get Faith rw :D But either way its cool to play :D

Here's the ol' Bobitch. Pretty much done outside of lvling to 95 or 99, but fuck that. BO/Shout/BC all level 51 with a 730 second duration.

Problem being a lot of the best dex/dmg items for an A1 rogue geared for physical damage have little to no IAS, so sometimes IAS on the bow is crucial. I believe the last BP is around 65% IAS with lv10 fanat. I maxed mine out with 40% IAS on the bow and 30% from Championfist. Great bow regardless.

Actually if you could tell me the base item of the bow and how much IAS a lvl 10 fanata gives I could calculate how much IAS would need to be present on the merc's armor/weapon to hit final breakpoint for sure.

Ok... collusus xbow base speed 10. Lvl 10 fanata gives 41% EIAS. Between the bow and fanata that's 31% EIAS out of the 75% needed to hit final breakpoint for sure. This means you need 44% more EIAS granted from IAS on gear. You would need 70% IAS on your merc's weapon and armor total in order to hit 75% EIAS with lvl 10 fanata and a collosus xbow.

Alright... did some more digging and found that a1 mercs have a base animation length of 16 frames for their normal attack. Since a1 mercs have no attack skills that use a cast animation or some other special animation they'll surely be using this normal attack animation for everything. In order for a 16 frame normal attack to hit its final breakpoint of 9 frames 60% EIAS is necessary. Of course this will mean you'll actually need 29% EIAS from gear IAS instead of 44%. This means that 39% IAS on weapon and armor will be necessary for final breakpoint.

Ok i may be dumb or something but currently my merc got 90 ias from gear (30 gloves, 60 armor( 2 jewels 20 ias each)) so merc should hit final breakpoint, but it doesnt. But when i use fanat it attacks faster, at least i feel like merc does attack alot faster. Am i schisofrenic or there may be some mistake in ur calculations.

I would argue differently based on the fact that xbows are inherently slower than bows. Using http://diablo2.ingame.de/tips/calcs/weaponspeed.php?lang=english and inputting a crusader bow weap speed 10 (this calc doesn't allow xbows on a1 mercs is only reason for this) it shows an ias needed of 215 ias total to hit 9fpa and 80 ias with lvl 10 fana. A1 merc has a base fpa of 17 according to that calculator.

1st are you sure that the fanata in unmodded d2 has the same speed boosts as HU's fanata? Also secondly just how are you arriving at the conclusion at the merc's base speed is 17 frames?

Vanilla Fanat 10lvl is 30%, here 10lvl is 38%. Choose 25+lvl in that calc to get real values.

Simple, I selected act1 merc and crusader bow. Shows base speed as 17fpa and 1.4 att/sec. If you had bothered to use the link I gave you would have seen that. Also, from real game experience playing a bowazon, I can tell you xbows are dramatically slower all factors being equal. Since that calculator will allow you to compare xbows on an amazon, but not act1 an merc, I did just that. Base speed of both bows in question was 10 so that would make a legit comparison. Base att crusader 15fpa (1.6att/sec) colossus xbow 22fps (1.1 att/sec) at ias and fana of zero. At 100 ias it's 9 (2.7 att/sec)and 13 fpa (1.9 att/sec) respectively. In fact setting the ias to 215 the collossus xbow maxed at 11 fpa, whereas the crusader displayed 8fpa.

First of all... your base animation presumption is wrong. It's actually easiest to calculate the base animation length from a 0 base speed weapon. Just yanking the slowest FPA value you see from a calculator is just plain wrong for how to calculate with reversed equations. Even with a 0 base speed weapon plopped into the calculator you still can't just simply yank the highest FPA value you see due to a peculiarity of the animation formula.

For some reason dragoon's site is the only one I can find that actually truly mentions the animation formulas involved with attacks. http://home.comcast.net/~thedragoon/wer ... apons.html

In particular it's normal attack formula mentions rounding up the result to the nearest whole number then subtracting one. This peculiarity is also present in the FCR, FBR, and FHR formulas as mentioned at http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=25405709. Now let's get into the significance of that round up then -1. While most of the time it makes it seem that the formula rounds down the result when there's actually a whole number result after all the multiplying and dividing one gets subtracted from it. If you actually put in a druid with a cedar bow with 0 speed boosts you'd get a 15 frame attack from that calculator. Tack 1 onto that and you get the base animation length the dragoon guide specifically mentions druids have with bows.

Also it should be noted that calculator is not perfect. The author of the topic here http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=5458178 mentions that while that calculator is good for the most part it is unfinished in some sections.

Also how about we go prying into the true nature of that calculator's results?

For now let's just ignore the fanata matter (although admittedly the fanata number I threw out was a bit off). Keep in mind a1 mercs have no xbow animation and use their bow animation for xbows. This makes any xbow vs bow base animation comparisons useless since they are simply not applicable (the fact that xbows are slower base animation for char classes means nothing for mercs).

First of all that 215 IAS the calculator spat out. Let's convert it to EIAS. (215*120)/(215+120)= 77.014 EIAS which rounds to 77 EIAS. A crusader bow's slow base speed of 10 would shave off 10 EIAS off the EIAS from gear resulting in 67 EIAS. As long as the animation speed is the standard 256 it is in most cases (which I can't find any evidence of it being otherwise for merc normal attacks) the animation length formula simplifies to the following roughly:

{base animation length / ((100+EIAS)/100)} - 1

where {} indicate the result is rounded up to the nearest whole number

Now let's humor your "base length" of 17 frames.

{17 /((100+67)/100)} - 1 =
{17/1.67} -1 =
{10.17} - 1 = 10

Considering it didn't even make it under 10 before the rounding and subtraction I find the idea that it's 17 a big laughable. Now for 16 I calculated for base anim length:

{16/ ((100+67)/100)} -1 =
{16/1.67} - 1 =
{9.58} -1 = 9

Let's run a 15 for the heck of it

{15/1.67} - 1 =
{8.98} - 1 = 8

Now let's consider a couple things from this... Due to the division hardly ever hitting a clean whole number most of the time the round up then subtract 1 will act as rounding down to the nearest whole number. This means the result in the {}'s should have a 9something after a decimal point if it's truly the proper breakpoint amount of EIAS like how that 15 example turned out.

A lot of the time when you do run the base animation modified by EIAS division you really do get a result like that 15 example when you double check the calculator's breakpoints. However in this case the calculator is pretending there's an unusual EIAS breakpoint. Unless you wish to offer forward valid formulas that would explain breakpoints being made in the .10 to .90 range of frame results before final rounding, qwikster... All I have to say to your IAS calculator answer rip is that's it's just plain wrong and it's one of those unfinished sections of the calculator that ItalianStallion was mentioning.

Ok after doing so much math, which is pretty interesing for me i still didnt get clear answer, how much dam IAS mod on items on merc i need for it to hit final breakpoint (simple IAS mod i dont even have idea what EIAS is so please be straigh in it). :D Coinsidiering lvl 10 fanat of course.

Ok... I did a full accuracy calc and found out the intermediate round off caused it to be 61% EIAS instead. Considering Steel's correction on the fanata that it's actually 3% EIAS lower that means I would have to figure out the IAS from an EIAS value that's 4% higher (33%).

To hit final breakpoint with lvl 10 fanata would be 46% IAS on weapon and armor.

To hit final breakpoint without the fanata would require 174% IAS.

Point of note: this thread http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=5458178was dated Dec 19 2006 07:34am so itself is way outdated. In that version of the calculator there wasn't even a place for merc calcs. Secondly, the HUdatabase lists this same calculator. Yes, I admit it ain't perfect, but is reasonably close in most cases. Truth be told, I'd rather be lead to believe my attack is slightly slower than be mislead into believing I made the bp when I did not. So, for example, it tells me I hit the ias break using the fana from vanilla, then I should have done so using the ias fana gives here. It is a good tool to use as a general check of where you are, although I do wish it allowed you to see a bit further down the bp scale. Using hunger (the animation for FB) it will only display down to 4fpa, same with fury.

As, to my presumption of base speed I used the exact same bow speed provided by the poster of the question here. I then displayed a comparison between bows and xbows with the same base speeds. This was to illustrate the basic differences between those types of weapons. With the a base weapon speed of 0 an act1 merc shows 15 fpa and jumping to a weapon speed of 10 shows 17 fpa.

I will admit tho I had forgotten about the merc not using the xbow animations.

well so far i have 2 sets of gear for it bow setup is just like a zon lotsa emeralds with nec wand and head on switch for buffing bone armor and summons
Then i have boss gear with foucuses on life and +skills for buffing blades/lr and amp

skill layout
max bone armor
max blades
max golem mastery
max lower resist

I must say having constant amp with multi shot clears pretty quick

That dmg makes no sence with only a 71 psn skill mastry....
My zon Spear-Chucker has a 90 psn skill mastry and i'm a 290k...
And you should post her up with no buffs from your barb and skill shrine..

Kinda funny .. Lmao .... I put all my buddys perfect gear on to and when I go from bramble to perfect templers I loose dmg.. And I also have all shards heart and brain.. I'm just saying the dmg doesn't make sence when i'm waring the same gear and your dmg is over Me and my duddys....

Oh i found my problem, i have another one that back up diablo 2 (normal) and hu mod was install in that back up. And that mean i installed it incorrectly but now i fixed it. Sorry man. And ty Asteroth i found my problem now.

Figure I'll get this thread back on topic. Here's a couple of my girls:

Screenshots taken with level 54 bo/shout/bc and lv 12 HoW. Could use a little tweaking but too lazy to re-socket shields and hunt down facets on HC. I'm bringing up a lightning sorceress as well(gogo triple element!) so maybe we'll get her in this thread before the ladder resets.

Yet he's still too ignorant to test LoS on single player and realize no matter how high his prayer gets it's close to useless versus the harder LoS anti-heroes.

A party with LoS experienced people you trust is the only way to do a safe HC LoS run.

There's nothing "insane" about those stats. Which are irrelevant anyway as to play main tank in your first live HC LoS run is suicide, and good luck finding a team to go along with it.

lawl so bitter.

kills very well actually - clears wsk2 and tundra quite fast with no death. i had to add skulls to devastator so she can survive the mobs in tundra. with fanat, very fast attacks.
