HU under attack???

Don't know what's going on but game servers are consistently freezing ALL the time and I'm talking about every server. Nothing like this has ever happened before. I know some people have been banned and threats were made. Is it possible someone is attacking the GS or something?
This is what happens:

In anywhere between 60 sec to ~ 10 min the game will completely freeze. No lag spike or anything.. just freezes.

Been happening on every server just about.. which makes me think someone is attacking the realm.

Anyway.. just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this.

yeah its happening to alot of us, not just you.
cant play for more than a couple minutes then server crashes and restarts

Definitely seems like an attack. I guess the guy who got banned *Sio fell through with his plans. He made a lot of threats after being banned for hacking.

Don't know what else could be the problem.

Guess it's sad to say individuals who are dumb enough to use hacks and get caught should take responsibility for their actions and be a man. Retarded kids like *Sio are ruining gaming for people who had nothing to do with him being banned.

What a complete jack ass.

dunno, the Linux servers give me no problem at all.

Zerloag has always been questionable. Bob98 seems to crash in a very short amount of time.

It wouldn't bother me at all if players had control to close their own games. So, they can play their chars again.

With the servers being home servers except for a couple I'm sure the security isn't very high.

this is a wide spread issue that has been post prominent in the last 4 days the most reliable games servers to use at least for me anyway have been the furycury and the canada linux test server. bob89 has been bad and the zerolag servers as well

Considering the file server has slowed down to hell as well (as reported by that one guy in the download thread recently) it is most likely a poorly executed DOS attack I'm suspecting which didn't have enough oomph to actually take things down (there should be no reason for the gateway/file server to be lagging so bad since they are their own machines that don't host games).

For the record; its possible either Sio is LmT or LmT knows Sio and goes to the same school. Their IP address for the forums and game was indentical.

Sio PM'd me not too long ago stating they were a programmer finishing school and wanted to help out by hosting a server. I know LmT goes to school for programming; they are either the same person or in the same program and know one another.

LmT has not logged onto the board since August 20th though.

Yeah the whole realm is under attack. This guy refuses to stop. Iso a specialist or something. And sio is LmT based off what Mancer said. 100% sure of it.

He pretended he was Korean and f added me on HC.. some type of shit LmT would do.
Anyway... the guy is not gonna stop messing up the realm. Something has to be done eventually..

If the IP is from the Uni like Mancer said contact the UNI IT letting them know the servers are receiving attack from there IP. They would be very interested in this.

I have LmT also known as Jesse Greene on Facebook. I've known him(aka Leslie/LmT) for over 12 years online. Met (her) on Uswest HCCL back when TPPK was out. We made many characters together over the years and tried several different D2 mods including hell unleashed from the near beginning. Just recently found out Leslie was a fake name.

DDOS attack isnt illegal. Unless, it's against a federal or government computer or it costs the business/person in excess of $5,000 dollars in losses/damages.

But yea, an informative email to the schools webmaster or IT head would probably do the trick. At least block our IP's through their firewall.

certainly there are rules for using the university network. using it for malicious purposes is not allowed. a report to their head of IT would probably do plenty of good to end this problem. LmT might do very well to simply stop the attacks before the long arm of the internet reaches into his personal life.

It wouldn't be hard at all to get a hold of the IT head at the university.. someone just needs the balls to call and probably wait a while to get a hold of him and report the attack. I'm sure LmT would get fucked now that we have his name and all..

the hard part is proving the attacks are actually coming from LmT. Without any hard evidence.. it'd be hard to really do anything. That's the main problem.

How can we prove the attacks are coming from lmt?

The owners of the servers being hit need to copy the log and send it to the uni admin. That will solve the issue very quickly. Or of course just block his IP on you firewalls.

These emails are very common, so just send them a few lines that show there IP barraging you and ask them to stop it.
