i never installed the beta just went from last version to this one

downloaded the core file, deleted HU data folder, extracted core into d2 folder overwrote all, downloaded high res lite extracted into d2 folder over wrote all, changed bnet ID. Got into multi , failed to join every game, except when creating my own

Single and multi also crash when i prress "I" to view my inventory.

I'm running from game.exe a shortcut i use to use to be able to use multiple instances of d2

Did you get Ki4m's updated loader thing? The first one he pushed out had issues with the d2mod plugin causing stability problems for high res.

i dont use loader or d2se its just a game.exe short cut with -direct -txt -ns w
that i edited it w advice from pure rage so i could run it more than once to start multiple instances

the char start screen is also messed up and in weird places

If possible it would be nice to see the SS of the messed up char start screen. This will help give me an idea what's kicking and and what isn't on your side. Initial impression from what you just said is that normal res files got mixed with high res files.

Never seen the stat screen messed up in that manner before... but from the way it's arranged I think I know what went wrong. The high res plug in is clearly working fine. My initial suspicion was true after all. Your -direct -txt is applying a data folder that contains outdated norm res extended stat screen files. Mixing norm and high res files causes crash problems just like the one you got. Either remove the data folder or remove the -direct -txt.

ahh awesome ty that works. how do i reapply pure rage client side edits now so that it will work with game.exe shortcut i have?

Re-add the -direct -txt to your shortcut. Delete any existing data folder completely before re adding a fresh copy of the purerage edits data folder to your d2 folder. That should wipe the traces of the norm res files in your existing data folder.

Did you run d2modsetup.bat? You have to run this for it to work.

extracted rages edits it to d2/mods/hu and still get same error, had no data foler there i deleted it before updating HU

regardless of a data folder when i add -direct txt i get that same error msg when usign desktop game.exe shortcut
