In all fairness I'm going to ask community members please not to post here. All I want is blue to post and give all of us some answers. The way in which the forum and patch have been handled as of late has been unsatisfactory. I will begin by listing a few of the facts.

This is pretty much the general impression I get from most of you around here. Clearly you all are so much better than I, so go ahead and build your own patch. I will leave you in peace and continue to just stay away from the forums.

This statement and your absence has mislead many of us into taking initiative on behalf of HU to put forward a patch. You encouraged it, but the moment one was put forward you rushed back from hiding and remained vague as to what will be its fate.

- oak sage nerf
The objective of this nerf is too broad. Nerfing a party-based skill in the hopes if affecting characters like poison amazons, sorceresses, and fire druids really doesn't seem to add up. If there is a problem with individual builds they can be addressed individually.

- 6 stat paladins
The objective of this buff was to help paladins given the major nerfs they sustained from the last patch. However, this again is a very class-specific issue. Healers are fine, and Smiters tank excellent as well. The only issue at question was the poor damage of zealers and foh/hammer paladins.

Now for the questions.

1. Why did you mislead the community into believing you had gone? Most of the community, including myself, were convinced you took off because of forum flaming. There was no misinterpretation of what you stated.

2. Why, in spite of vehement opposition of the community, do you persist in the oak sage and paladin changes? It is quite clear that these changes are not addressing the issues at hand, and will most likely create more problems than they will attempt to solve.

3. What exactly is your course of action with the patch release? When I PM'd Duff and Mancer I listed very clearly a possible course of action for a patch, timeline, and testing. A link to the patch was even provided for everyone to access. All you've done so far is claim a patch is nearly done amid great protest.

4. What exactly do you plan to do in regards to your patch and the Kevin/Pious patch? I am just a tad bit angry with your inconsistency as it seems to have resulted in Kevin wasting a great deal of time based on your statements. The last thing I wish to see is people work on this alternate patch only for you to turn around and say no.

5. Do you have the ability and time to make this patch happen? The community has been waiting months for what was supposed to be a quick patch and what we have now is the result.

None of us want to take over your position Blue. In fact I'm quite certain the response from most players would be in your favor if you were willing to compromise on the above listed issues and address character balance problems directly. The purpose of this post is to seek clarity for the sake of Kevin, myself, and the community.

I didn't mislead about anything. I took off because of forum flaming. Probably should have just stayed away too, this nonsense is annoying.

I believe they are addressing the issues at hand and have yet to hear any solid reason why they aren't other than people simply don't like it.

It is in progress. It keeps getting delayed when I find myself asking "why the hell am I doing this for a bunch of annoying, lazy people?"

I PM'd Kevin earlier not to waste time on putting out a patch as I was still working on one. Any other action is out of my hand. If you are asking me to feel sympathy over a few days worth of lost effort, clearly you have no concept of the weeks and weeks that are involved in actually building a patch.

I was ready to roll with a patch back in June 26 when I made this post: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4162 Then I got dragged in to a forum shitstorm and it got delayed. I have a job and can't drop everything to meet time tables. When I have time, I work on a patch - when I don't, I don't. There was a window at the end of June that closed and hasn't opened until recently. Looks like the July window is going to close too as I am tied up with work for probably another 2 weeks.

I asked tons of people to take over my position months ago. No one stood up. I am baffled how I could be any more clear than I have been. Re-read any of my posts if you want information.

It seems to me you have no desire to compromise, no desire to take responsibility for mistakes you may have made, and no desire to acknowledge some of the balance ideas in your patch are flawed. You seem to be too busy to put out a finished work, since from what I've seen it takes only mere hours to create a patch, and not very long to test. Are you really fit to be modding for Hells Unleashed Blue? When Soulmancer states the mod is in the hands on the community, did he mean in the hands of you?

I was hoping you'd be willing to work with the community here. They are not asking for a lot, simply to re-consider your oak and paladin suggestion. Or are your ideas just plain superior to those of everyone else around here? I can't find a great deal of justification for your position right now other than that you seem to have a privileged position with the gateway host.

I've followed your arguments. Over time you tell people they are too lazy to mod, to lazy to code, too lazy to make changes on their own. You left the forum arrogantly taunting people to work on their own patch. When these changes are forthcoming by the community you are quick to defend against them. Or am I wrong?

If just for the records sake, I could pull up the change log of this patch and highlight all of your suggested changes which turned out disastrous. This might embarrass you further considering your attitude on the oak/6 point paladin. However, at this point I doubt that would mean anything, as it seems you are not willing to listen to any member of the community on these points.

The community is not only able but willing to produce a patch with plenty of input from everyone.

If you are too busy to put together a balanced patch then don't do it. If modding is a job you don't want then please tell Terry so he can organize something. The last thing anyone wants to see is a repeat of this patch with oskill fire and cold mastery as well as crippled melees.
