yay or nay??

seems like max block is achievable with about 75 points? trying to figure out if this is worth it on all my chars..
can you block with bone armor on?
can you block over eshield?
can you block while attacking(casting, smiting, what evering)

and why does holyshield not add to block after your shield hits 75% O_O?!?!

do many people try for max block. i've seen very few if any. unless they never talk about it

block is applied before ES and bone armor yeh,
you cn block while attacking, casting etc yeh.
block is 1/3 when running though
holy shield does add blocking to the shield after it hits 75% just like ameths do, you just can't see it on the item.

what level hshield, remember the chance to block has dreadful deminishing returns. what % did it go from/to on the skill

it adds 1% per point. and i first started going at it, it weas giving me 1% per hard point in the stats tree then it just stopped. then someone told me it was because i had 75% on shield. then cranked 3 more into it and nothing happened.

One thing I have noticed it on my char screens I don't see chance to block. Not even on my pally, is there a reason? Only the shield itself show it.

Total Blocking = (Block * (Dexterity - 15)) / (Character Level * 2)

1) Block = the total from your items and HShield. There is no cap on this, but the display on a shield's inventory pop-up is capped at 75%.
2) Total Blocking is capped at 75%. It is not displayed if below some value (probably 1%). This display is found in the char-screen pop-up for defence, below the %Chance of a monster hitting you.

Some examples (I'll be rounding down numbers) using a level 50 character:
EG1) 100 dex and a shield with 20%Block socketed with 3 Flawless amythests (+3x10%Block)
Total Block = ((20+30)* (100-15)) / (50*2) = 50*85/100 = 42%
EG2) Same as EG1, but with 20 dex
Total Block = ((20+30)* (20-15)) / (50 2) = 50*5/100 = 2%
EG3) Same as EG1, but with HShield giving 40%Block
Total Block = ((20+30+40)* (100-15)) / (50*2) = 90*85/100 = 76% = 75% (capped)
EG4) Same as EG3, but char level raised to 60
Total Block = ((20+30+40) * (100-15)) / (60*2) = 90*85/120 = 63%
EG5) 19 Dex, 20%Block shield, no gear or skills buff block
Total Block = ((20+0) * (19-15)) / (50*2) = 20*4/100 = 0%

The above is only relevant to shield-based blocking. Skills like Clawblock and Evade/Dodge/Avoid do not use this blocking formula. The % listed on those skills is the % used to block the attacks that those skills work for.

BlockFactor: The amount of blocking that is added to the base shield blocking from Armor.txt for display and calculation purposes.
These are different that on LoD 1.10:
Code:
Ama Sorc Nec Pala Barb Dru Assass
15 5 15 20 0 10 20

Edit: Forgot to add. Shield values you can get from http://blue.arimyth.com/WhiteShields.html . For example buckler on paladin has block 23% and 3% on barbarian
