Updated 2/12/18 small string error fix and now packed as a single folder again. Get it HERE!
Just replace the Save folder with your old version before you delete the old version. This contains many changes built into 1.8 for great solo/TCPIP play. This is ideal for people who don't always have internet, don't have lots of time to play and don't want to worry about ever losing their characters, or just passing time solo/duo until a new realm patch goes up.
This has been extensively tested and played through. Some of the changes include:
-5 new Sets
-9 new Runewords
-7 new Uniques
-Largely improved all crafting
-Universal balance changes on most skills, items, monsters, and boss encounters to be more viable for solo/duo play
-Hireling fix for Blizzard and Meteor
-Increased chance to gamble sets and uniques
-Lowered str and dex requirements for all bows and top elite weapons/armor
-Removed Fire Enchanted from non-super uniques
-Reduced the dmg% bonuses from runes
-Increased power of some gems
-Increased power of Uber uniques
-Increased base durability of all weapons to 250
-Increased resist penalties for NM and Hell to -60 and -120
-Increased Battle Command duration to 5 minutes
-Slightly improved Immolation Arrow burn radius
-Improved Double Swing and Frenzy damage scaling. Doubles Swing does significantly higher damage than Frenzy due to not gaining the IAS/FRW that Frenzy does.
-Updated, 100% accurate webpage folder included for item/craft links
**The goal for end-game here is that crafted items *can* be the best items in the game, though they often tend to not roll the way you want. Runewords, sets, and good rares can all be useful; there are no specific items that any character MUST have. For example, Life Tap proc is a suffix that can roll on rare (or crafted) amulets, but will you be lucky enough to get a good one?
**Monsters still have resist immunities, but these immunities can all be broken by high levels of Lower Resist, Amp, or Conviction. The nature of 1.8 skills not requiring synergies means that immunities are not as devastating as they used to be.
COMPLETE GAME INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:*Do not place this in program files. It's best to just put it in your c:/ directory*-Right click D2SE application -> properties -> compatibility -> run program in windows XP SP3
-Check reduced color mode (16 bit)
-Check run as administrator
-Check disable themes (if available)
-Apply
-Repeat the above for Game.exe and Diablo II.exe
-Run the registry editor called "hu.reg" in the mods folder and hit OK to update gateways
-Run D2SE as admin, and hit glide config -> openGL infos. If your OS is 64 bit, change settings to 32 bit rendering. The game performs best in windowed mode, so I recommend checking windowed mode, keep aspect ratio, 1600x1200 static size, window extras. In renderer, if you have a newer computer, I recommend 64MB texture memory, 1024x1024 texture size, 32 bit rendering (if 64 bit), and all boxes EXCEPT 'no gamma'. Extensions, I recommend all except Vertex Array. If your computer isn't great and you get some FPS lag during big explosions, uncheck the render texture extension, and uncheck bilinear filtering and supersampling.
-These are the glide settings that worked for me, but your results may differ.
*If your graphics are geeked out, restart glide config and just try with default settings*-Hit test, make sure it's ok, then hit Quit
-SCROLL DOWN on D2SE to find Hell Unleashed, UNCHECK -ns disable sound (unless you don't want sound...) For best results, CHECK -w windowmode, but windowmode is not required.
SOLO+TCP/IP VERSION WITH PLUGY-Make sure your in-game resolution says 1024x768. This WILL NOT work if you use multires changes above (or lower) than this level.
Launch D2SE, and make sure the box for Use Plugy is checked. Also, make sure on the bottom right that both boxes are checked for -direct and -txt. These are crucial and must be checked every time or you might lose everything and the mod won't work. They should stay checked, but always make sure.
When in the game and using Plugy, do not use your private stash. Always keep your items in your shared stash. There is no shared gold. Do not put any items past page 100 of the shared stash or they might disappear.
If you get an error that says "change it so memory=0", just reboot your computer, and it will work. It's just a registry conflict. Also running a program like CCleaner to clean your registry can help prevent this.**The Plugy files will NEVER work on Arimyth realms! Keep two separate folders if you want a Plugy version and an online version!**
