These are some questions that are asked all the time. I figured it would be nice to have a FAQ here, so I started it.

Frequently Asked Questions


1. My merc can't equip anything! What happened?
- Most likely you didn't install the mod properly. Run D2ModSetup.bat, found in your HU folder.

2. No Arimyth Network in Realm list. What do I do?
- Run hu.reg, found in your HU folder.

3. Where can I find informations about HU? Like items, crafting, mercenaries and cube recipes.

4. Weird stuff happening! I can't see the latest patch changes in the game. For example, Poison Strike spawns a cloud, skill changes are not visible on the skill page, etc.
- Delete your Data folder if you have one. If it still doesn't fix it, try to redownload/reinstall the mod.

5. I can't enter normal games! What's the problem?!
- Most likely your character has already finished Normal Baal. Characters that have the Baal quest finished (thus are in the next difficulty level) can't join games made by characters still in previous difficulties. This is an anti-rush feature. You can still make normal or nightmare games.

6. I crash when entering Level 2 of the Isolated Purgatory! What's happening?
- This is a bug that has been around for a long time. There's some problem with the map or the fires. There is nothing you can do, just hope that you don't crash.

7. I killed a portal-spawning boss, but no portal. Where is it?!

If the boss dies by any of those sources, then they will not spawn a portal. The solution is to switch auras, or allow another source of damage to kill them. The "pulse" referred to in (2) and (3) is the damage affecting all monsters in the radius of the skill.


8. Destroyed a portal orb, but no portal spawned. It's all lies!
- It's the same as above. Except for Thorns damage, of course..

9. My computer is kind of bad and bosses slow it down too much. Is there anything I could do?
- Check out Purerage's clientside edits
- Glide wrapper could help as well.
- Running the game in windowed mode helps a lot too. In order to do this, open the 'Hell Unleashed.bat' file in a text editor and type '-w' at the end of the command line.

10. I still got no answer to my question.
- Then make a thread and ask away! :)

you said to delete your data folder if you have one, does that mean everyone should delete their data folder if they have one or only if they are experiencing bugs...

@shantu The cube recipe's on critter are valid, but have been updated on http://blue.arimyth.com/patch.html. Nicely written Should be stickied.

@hfown You'll only experience problems using -direct -text switch in the short cut. Which is needed if using Pure's rage edits as it replaces the current data folder.

With this patch, deleting your Data folder is generally a good idea, because of unwanted bugs from previous versions. Better to be safe, no? :)

I may be blind, but I don't see the Cube recipes on Blue's site.

Any often-seen questions that I should add?

Sorry mis-read it. Was thinking crafting. My bad. If some one adds PureRage's edits they are in a data folder. So it could be said to only include the most recent data files and have them linked in the DL thread or a stickied post.

also what should be added is what deadly strike/crushing blow/open wounds/etc does
im not even sure exactly what deadly strike does besides the obvious more damage

need to talk about piercing enemy resistances maybe
and have a link to the place i forget where that has all the races skills you can look at the damage at every level and synergy %'s

Also, with the merc equipment bug, if you have any other mod installed (in my case it was plugy) then he might stubbornly refuse to equip gear even if everything else works in the game.
Removing plugy solved it for me.

are asn's traps effected by reducing monster's resistance? and do such kind of skills, which are not effected by reducing monster's resistance including magic resistance, exist in HU? Just want to be sure.

In HU I'm pretty sure every summon has been given the elemental mastery and resistance piercing of the summoner (I haven't noticed one that was missed). That said, Assassin and druid skills are pretty strange, so while I know that their summons have the passive stats correctly implemented, it wouldn't surprise me if the skills ignored those stats. Someone could verify this pretty easily by summoning a trap while they've removed their -%Res gear, and checking whether or not the trap was doing much less damage (In Hell I'd expect it to be about 25% damage without -%Res stats).
