I just started playing the game and it's fun but with 1-3 games in normal, why keep playing? I got lucky yesterday and found some groups to get to a5 but since I'm pretty much unable to kill anything I'm basically stuck wandering around until enough low people hopefully log on who happen to need to kill the same stuff I do. The areas where I can kill stuff, they don't give me any XP anymore.

is everyone in hell? am I best off playing regular d2 on bnet at this point?

a fair amount play and yes a lot are in hell but there are a lot in normal to but it's just luck at when a game comes along you need and a lot run private...

I don't know what build you're playing, maybe you just need some better gear, in this case some farming could solve your problems. But if your char is some support type then I suggest you try some other more combat oriented build so you can move ahead alone.
And don't forget this mod is supposed to be hard is you want to play solo.

Yeah I play a bowazon. I thought I was doing pretty good gear wise but things are obviously a bit different than regular d2, so maybe not.

My skills:
max multi shot, maxing guided, some in dodge, some in pierce, some in +AR, mostly to get them all to about 50%ish until later levels.

Gear (nothing has sockets, no idea if they can be socketed either):
riphook unique bow (seems ok?)
nagel ring/manald ring/cathans seal depending
nokozan ammy (no idea if that's spelled right)
rockfleece armor/twitch alternate
blood fist gloves
goblin toe boots (for 5% crushing blow)
i forget my helm name (unique long-horns helm with knockback)/wormskull alternate
blade buckle

am i doing something wrong gear or skill-wise?

Everything sounds alright man, I put more points in valk early in game for soloing with mine but you could gear up an a2 merc just as easy. You should be able to solo tundra at that point.

I suppose you may have not loaded up your health enough and that is why you have problems, not sure how you did your stat points.

you should socket the twitch and put max dmg in it change ur helm to a 3 or 4 socket helm and put dex or max dmg in it also. you can try crafting a bow but without a starstone skull i wouldnt bother just yet. belt u want the unique exceptional light belt the one with piercing i wouldnt bother with that ammy, a rare might suit you better
