Are there any allowed client side mods to display certain items like HP potions on the ground as red, or mana potions as blue, etc via D2loader?

Good question.

One thing I would LOVE to do is have socketted items show up as plain white rather than gray. That would leave ethereal items as the only gray items that drop and really save a lot of time when hunting for an eth item.

But in case you wanted some NON eth socketed normal item, you would have to pick up every white item praying for it being socketed... thats a big handicap IMO.

just use sockets to make socketted items. I see no value in hunting around for a 4 socket item.

u cannot do 6 sox items with "socket things" other than shenk's quest... so, maybe there's a point in the game you need more than ... fifteen items with 6 sockets.

But anyway, if you like it, ( try to ) go for it ^^

there are very, very few times that you need 6 sockets compared to the numerous times you need an eth item.

hm, that's quite different than changing colors... dunno, look into txt files for it.
edit: http://phrozenkeep.hugelaser.com/forum/ ... =8&t=46072 should be easy.

This is all relative, of course.

To be honest, the system is fine as it is.

I believe it'd be fairly easy to flag ethereal items to display as a different color, but then you run into the issue of whether or not ethereal color has priority over socketed color. And if my belief is wrong and it's hardcoded into a compound statement, we're fucked.

personally, I would approach it by wiping out the socket color designation to avoid the overwrite. That seems the cleaner approach.

Back to the OP's question though - can the color stuff be done with out maphack (and therefore Duff banhammer kickin your ass?)

I'm pretty sure it's hardcoded. You can do a lot of text coloring via the string files but socket and ethereal coloring are handled internally :(

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/7894/s ... ot060v.jpg can't figure how to change for eth/socketed, they use diff values in d2client perhaps.

I think that the ethereal/socketed color binding was there to save a bit of space, but I think it would've been easier to separate the two if it were really meant to be changeable. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work that way.
