I noticed this for the first time in 1.5?
The physical one commits suicide. I haven't looked into the files to see what is happening, just thought that it should be directly noted somewhere so that it eventually gets fixed.

Monster suicide is usually related to skill errors. Like he tries to use a skill that doesn't exist any more or something similar. Something to check anyway.

Yeah, I swear I fixed this in 1.5b. I remember it being one of his skills was spelled wrong.

I'm at a complete loss for how to fix this guy. I literally downloaded 1.3 just to see if the settings matched for him in monstats and superuniques. I've even tried deleting all of his skills, thinking maybe that was an issue somehow, and when I get there he just falls over dead.

One thing I noticed is he does stay alive if you are at clip range and don't aggro him. As soon as you get closer and aggro anyone nearby, he croaks. Good luck with this wild goose chase.

I just took a look at the 1.5 files, since I've got them handy, and he was set to use "Iron Maiden" but that skill doesn't exist in skills.txt. Consider switching it to one of "IronMaiden" (probably a bad call, this is the Necro version) or "MonIron Maiden" (probably the one you want). I checked his other skills, and they all exist, so I'm guessing skill1 is the only issue.

I don't know what would happen if his skills were deleted, so maybe that wasn't a method of fixing him (i.e. maybe the AI that he's using auto-dies when he has no skill1?)

In the future, consider reviewing the debuglog text file in the root folder, it should have logged this issue when trying to read monstats.txt

I thought about that too, but that's exactly how it's also listed in the 1.3 monstats. I'll try the MonIron Maiden and see how it goes. I figured with no skill, he would just try to punch you like every other mob with no skills, since his AI is not unique. Here goes...

Edit - Well I'll be damned, that's all he needed. :P

Glad it was found.
In roughly 1.3b curses were worked with to really divide monster curses from player curses. Some had been done, but this was needed with the changes to IM specifically.
