I am preparing the Alpha test of the Ultima Online Free Shard: This test is to find out 2 things... Who is actually interested/cares about this and to test server stability and if my new modifications/features are working properly. This was actually a fairly simple project, with most of the changes I wanted to make being very easy; though there is still a bit more I need to do. Figured this was a good project to pass the time with while waiting for Torchlight 2.

The are more features and more content upcoming that will be added for the beta test.

The theme of this shard is an old school rules meets new age gameplay in a customized/modified world. This is a unique theme of my own design with an emphasis on open PvP/PvE utilizing most modern UO gameplay features.

Rules:

All modern skills, customization, races, and features
Open PvP anywhere outside of guard zones on all maps!
Umbra City in Malas will function as an evil/red/murderer city
Malas is open to public housing
Guard Zones in Malas removed
Tweaked Moongate System
Ishenar remains the same; mostly PvE content with champion spawns and no towns, housing or guard zones.
New Haven functions as the temporary starting city for now for all players.
Skill Cap Raised to 850
Stat Cap Raised to 250
No Item Insurance
Start with 3 personalized re-recyclable item bless deeds.
Faster skill and stat gain rates.
Removal of Trammel/Felucca/Lost Lands/Tokuno Maps to intensity population density... UO original landmass is way WAY to big.

Upcoming

Addition of the Ter'Mur Abyss landmass (no housing)
Starting town moved to one of two cities in Ter'Mur "Royal or Holy City" (This city will act as the only guarded city on the server)
Improved NPC & Monster spawns
Most up to date Stygian Abyss features enabled.
Enhanced 3D Client Support
Darker nights
Long distance travel spells will have an increased casting time.
Slightly improved monster behavior.

What do you need?

Download and update the Classic Client: http://www.uoherald.com/downloads

Download Razor UO: http://www.runuo.com/razor/Razor_Latest.exe (You would require this to connect)

Let me know if anyone is interested or anyone cares!

With RazorUO Try connecting to 96.48.37.122 port 2593 ...

I may have to do some port forwarding on my router to allow connections. But the server is currently online. I will also have to manually create player accounts... For now there is a test1/test1 account n pass.

You should be able to connect now... be sure to update the client to the latest version.

Trying to establish some interest first within this community and RunUO but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot as of yet... at any rate the alpha test server is online.

Cool I'll give it a go tonight and see if I can get it going after my pokah session.

What kind of numbers would you be looking for to create a fairly good UO community?

100+ initially would be great. There are that many who play within the HU community but not sure how many would be interested. I'll have to look into other avenue's for advertising. I am trying to keep the world relatively small so we don't need 1000 players.

Well seeing as how I've never played UO before I have no idea what I'm doing. I walked around for a bit but I have no clue what is going on lol

How do I connect to Mancer's server?

I didn't see him post the IP or port. Maybe I didn't read well enough let me double check.

Edit: found it xD

Familiarize yourself with the controls is first and formost. Alt-key brings up menus and such... Alt-O will bring up the option menu and you can look at the controls there.

A single click on NPC's brings up their menu.
Alt-C is warmode
Alt-K is your list of skills
Alt-I is your inventory
Move things by clicking, holding and dragging

Walk around, buy stuff, kill stuff. You can skills by using them, you do not level up.

Hmmm. Perhaps you may want to work with a game that appeals to a larger community? Such as TL? Or perhaps come back to HU? :ugeek:

Currently on hold given the software is not entirely done and there doesn't seem to be much interest in the project. I guess the game is a bit old and the fan base here is probably not as interested as I had hoped. Since it's quite different from Diablo gameplay. It is a dated game to look at, no doubt about that especially with all the other RPG's currently out right now.
