whenever i unpack buysellbtn's to modify the graphics it causes an error with just charsi in act one town
the error reads
"Assertion Failure
Location: d2cmp\src\celcmp.cpp, line #1399
expression pCel"

it even occurs if i just unpack the file and place it in the correct fold without any modification, to view, it works at all other npc's besides charsi.

any ideas would be appreciated

I'm presuming you only tried NPCs in act 1? I'm guessing something with the repair button graphic you made went screwball. Maybe try reverting the repair button to original?

make sure all buttons have the unpressed and then the pressed button following it in the .dc6.

Ive done some research on that, the button in the file looks nothing like the button that i unpack..........i think someone modded it for the mod and am looking through there to find the currently in use one.

you propably used the wrong file, I think used the one from d2data.mpq
but you will need the one from patch_d2.mpq or d2exp.mpq , i'm not sure wich but blizzard added more buttons to a newer version, and because this buttons are missing in your dc6 you get crashes..

I told you to always check in patch_d2, then d2EXP, then data.mpq pappy!!!

per your message saying i was getting my file from the wrong place.....

I checked all three locations

data mpq has a file that when unpacked looks to be a byte for byte match with the exp.mpq

patch.mpq contained no file whatsoever by the name of "buysellbtn"

however of the two files that i did find (data and exp mpq) do not look like the actual button in game when i play now.

On the flip side, while i was searching through all those files i came across an image of a hireable bunny......very funny.

the -direct -txt thing turned out to be on, ive asked before, youll probably know, what exactly does that do.

I am able to make my own now , and why is that the only thing affected.

final question is why does the original hammer and anvil forge pics not match what is actually there in game ( its got grey dots on it that the original dont)

I'm gonna make my own now......i think mine willl look really cool since ive done them three times now
