Suggesting alowing ONLY throwing knives to be able to used with mutli shot along with bows and xbows. Also changing the throwing knives since they are completely useless. This would open up for some interesting builds probably novelty builds or trash clearers but just a new breath into the mod. Ya know variety!

Kinda reminds me of something from Median when I read that. They have knives throwing out in a star burst pattern in all directions called barrage iirc.

back in the days we made 3 new oskills only available on certain uniqs past 70 lvl. It was guided axes, multishot knives/javelins and strafe knives. You could probably link normal throw attack synergy with throwing mastery, like 1 missile per hard point, or whatever.

what about double throw?

Weap switch, or multi-throw with 2 weaps equipped.
Remember it won't be thrown at the same speed as Double throw, it'll be fired at the same rate as normal throw.
I'd be ok with it as long as its capped around 10-12 knifes (2 + 1 per 2 points in throwing mastery/blade fury maybe).

Could be added as automagic to throwing knives or as an affix for them (needs manually added to uniques/sets without a code edit to allow automag on all items).

No complaints here, throwing knifes are completely useless outside of 1-2 for prebuffing.

what about adding something like "fires splittering knifes" automagic (like fires freezing/exploding arrow)

when you hit a enemy it splits up into multiple knifes, maybe like lighjtningfury or a multishot that starts at the monster and not at your char....

(hope you understand what I mean)

That'd require hard coding a whole new function. You could change the throwing knife missile to make it split or whatever you like, but then all throwing knife missiles will split, regardless of the property on the item.

You could try adding a formula to the calc1 field for throw, for the number of splits, then have the throwing knife missiles use light fury functions and read from the throw skill calc 1 column for # missiles on split. The calc would have to use a stat that you add to the knives like "+x knifes released from regular throw on striking with a throwing knife". (kinda long property desc :P)

Double throw would generate 1 split sub missile if using throwing knifes though (it fires at least 1 sub missile upon impact regardless of the calc).

Kinda like your idea kev But why not make it a flat number of knives like 5 or 7 b/c if you use lite fury it would auto target monsters. Instead use a nova funtion and release a flat number.

ServerHit 5 + ClientHit 4
Explodes into a nova of HitMissile1/CltHitMissile1 (ClientHitPar1 and SrvHitPar1 are used for the incrementation, not like for FO though)

works better than frozen orb hit funtions b/c they are released straight out instead of at an angle

ya the last one is ez to impliment on all throwing knives and would work for double throw nicely i think. atleast u could trash quicker

Using that method, all throwing knives would come with that effect as standard. You wouldn't need the property (I think ki4m was talking about a mod that can spawn like fires exploding arrows), it would just be how knives functioned. Not sure what I think about that. hmm.

Lets make throwing pots better too!

well i'm currently working on putting up a test of this in home made mods. i could make potions better but i would require skills to balance it imo. would like more input on how people would like pots done before i would move forward with pots.

I just added a rough version of the missile change in with the melee stuff in home made. The AoE component missiles should have a weap dmg mod of 3/4 at most, maybe 1/2 (needs more testing).
I just used advlighttrailingjav hit functions and left the random path on them.

btw, the spin on forb nova is controlled by the move functions used by the sub missiles, not by the forb hit functions themselves. advlighttrailing is a nice hit func for nova effects though, and it's not bugged like forbs hit functions are.
