Heres a current list of ALL unique helms/armor that could use an over-haul.
-----HELMS-----
****NORMAL CLASS: All normal class helms besides these listed could use a change: Tarnhelm Undead Crown
*Every normal class helm is easily passed up for even the simplest of 3 socket regular helms w/ 3x diamond chips/flawed (melee)or 3x sapphire chips/flawed (casters)...not to mention low level gambled max damage jewels. Or even just an Infernal set cap.
****EXCEPTIONAL CLASS: All exceptional class besides these could use a change: Rockstopper (DR%, resists) Diamond Star (good caster helm/ resists/ 2x sockets) Vampiregaze (DR%, resist, +1 necro/+3-4 DK/ +3-4Bone armor)
*Every other exceptional class helm can be EASILY substituted by using a NAJ circlet (lvl 45) or a Tal's mask (lvl 60) mostly because of the sockets in my opinion. Or a crafted blood helm by this time in the game.
****ELITE CLASS: Most of the elite class are good
*Most of the elites helms are pretty nice for what they are used for. Kira's Guardian, Crown of Ages and Griffon's Eye taking most the attention away from the rest of the group. However, Harlequin Crest, Dragonhead, and Steelshade are pretty useless and I don't personally know of anyone who makes any use of them.
-----ARMORS-----
****NORMAL CLASS: All normal class besides these could use a change: Rockfleece (DR%, low req., STR/VIT, FHR) Rattlecage (5%cb, resists) Heavenly Garb (+mana, FCR, resists, mana regen) Silks of the Victor ( +1skills, +life, resists, DR%)
*Every other normal class armor has the same problem as the normal class helms. Using chipped/flawed, diamonds/sapphires in a 3 socket armor found on ground or bought at merchant beats most of the low lvl ones. Socketed Blood craft also beats them. Arctic Furs armor is hands down better than most of the LOW lvl ones, while Angelic set or Civerbs armor is better for the stuff around lvl 17-19 up to at least rockfleece.
****EXCEPTIONAL CLASS: most are decent as they are
* The few exceptional armors that could use a change are: Spirit Forge, Crow Caw, and Skulder's Ire
**All of the other exceptionals have something "special" about them that allows for certain builds to make use of them (at least for a little bit). ie: Spirit Shroud (cannot be frozen at lvl 46), Skin of Flayed One (dual leech, repair duribility, replenish life +30), Shaftstop (30%DR at lvl 58), etc..
****ELITE CLASS: most are good how they are
* This is the really tough part. So many of these elites seem to have been on the right track but just fell short of shining bright enough to be useful.
** The few that may need to be tweaked to make them considerable to use are: Wyrmscale (maybe 3 sockets in it instead of 2), Gladiator's Bane, Radamant's Vale (why is there +10 bone armor Oskill on item specific to necro builds), Hatestorm Crest, Trapper's Catch, Darkfear, Arkaine's Valor.
***These armors listed could be VERY interesting to certain builds (since they seemed to be tailored in that way) BUT they were just missing the "special something" that they needed to be used instead of the more "All-Around" useful armors like Glassglare, Leviathan, or even Corpsemourn (melee waiting to use Levi/Tyreal) for example.

Please give feedback, especially players who have been around long enough to verify my statements OR to lend opinions on the "lesser useful" items as to why they should not be changed. If this is successful, I will continue down Critter's page and eventually list all items.
