Is a pure summon druid viable in hell? It seems like the druid itself would just be standing around waiting for the summons to kill things. With the 50% damage resist in hell, can the summons even kill things? Also, do summoned wolves/bears/spirits and I guess even skeletons have any resistances? or do they just all get killed by diablo's flame wave (or other elemental attack) and then the druid is suck with nothing helpful to do.

Maybe running immortal flesh prayer to keep summons alive and have a bow merc with ctc amp? Would this work?

I haven't actually played one but im pretty sure its somewhere along the lines of a summon necro. The minions are just there to tank an do minor damage an the the merc is your killer.

summon druid is an oak bitch on most major boss fights. Get an act 1 merc with a ctc amp bow and you are fine. I always max HoW on a summon druid and use HoW on trash and Oak on bosses.

What also works well on your a1 merc is Andariel's Visage. It reanimates monsters that cast Amplify Damage for you.

And yes, Summon Druids are a viable build, and also provide the best Oak in the game.
