Okay, so I crafted me a good sorc circlet and it's got four open sockets and I don't know what to put in it. Facets? How much -res do I need? The +% damage does like nothing. Should I instead use something else? Some good advice would be great.

Probably because you already got the element specific mastery, and that % is like an add to the main percentage of da skill. Thats it: the added damage is pretty trivial.

Anyway, use:
a) Saphires ( best quality you can afford ) if you got e.shield with tk, and that stuff...
b) facets of ur element due to -res%. The more dmg you can inflict to element resistant foes, the best for you .
c) rubies to survive a lil bit more in case u get hit.
d) Wirts legacy ( )

I would not use diamonds on a sorc, cause shes not gonna be a tank... xD

You'll feel it if you stack em up a little, 6% for me is almost 600.
and 600 damage every cast is quite a bit when you have 200%+ fcr.

I use a Lite Griffs though, for the resists and FCR.

damage shown on the character screen is never the real damage you do. why? because of monster resists.

The lower you can get your enemies' resists, the more damage you will do. Facets for sorcs are all about the negative res, not the +. You slap 4 perfect facets in there and your damage will only go up a bit (24%), but that -24 enemy res will show a lot more, especially on bosses.

if you are using energy shield, sapphires work great. rubies work well for life. diamonds are usually a no-no after normal for the most part except for some build types or certain bosses. since you are a sorc, you should be teleing around a lot and moving, not standing up in a monsters face. if you use eshield, skulls arent bad either (regenerate mana and replenish life). Facets are usually the number one pick though...you have a merc to tank and other party members to tank. your job is for big damage. there are other options too... some runes (ber for DR%, jah for 10%max life and 10%max mana, etc etc).
