I had this idea kicking around for a bit.

I know it kills your defense, but go with a non defensive build. Seems most bosses use powerful magic spells. I think it really has potential to be a powerful boss killer.

1 bash
1 leap (usefull)
20 stun (synergy for berserk)
20 concentrate (synergy for berserk and can use vs normal men)
20 berserk

1 howl
1 shout
20 battle order
1 battle command
1 find potion
1 find item

1 mace mastery
20 increase stamina
1 increase speed
1 iron skin
1 natural res

Its achievable at 99.

Berserk: 575% Attack Rating Bonus, 1380% Magic Damage Bonus.
Concentrate: 290% Defense Bonus, 575% Attack Rating Bonus, 690% Damage Bonus.

Weapon: Gris Caddy 5x Uber Diamond. Adds 900-1200 Magic Damage
-60% to Enemy Magic Resistance.
Helm: Dhorn 3x Magic Facets. 450-750 Magic Damage, -18% to Enemy Magic Resistance.
Armor: Tyraels 4x Magic Facets. 600-1000 Magic Damage, -24% to Enemy Magic Resistance.
Gloves: Maybe Hellmouths for absorb, ias and +1 skill?
Belt: Worldstone Granite. +1 skill, 20 str, vita, 50% fhr, 10% dr, 10% all res.
Boots: Shadowdancers. 20 vita, str, dex, 10% dr, 50% fhr.
Shield: Spirit Ward. 3x Uber skulls. or 1x uber topaz, ruby, sapphire.
Amulet: Metalgrid. 1 skill, 600 ar, 60 res.

From the gear your looking at the following.

Magic Damage: 2050-2950
Enemy Resistance: -102%
Resistances: 170 all resists (not including shield gems)
Damage Reduction: 50% (not including shield gems)

I wouldn't be surprised to see 2000% magic damage from berserk when all is said and done. The damage will be massive, the speed should be good, resists should be above perfect with anya quests, natural res, anni (about 250+ all res), dr will be perfect, and depends what you put in shield, could be 86% dr.

You don`t need a lot of -mag res buz only a few bosses in HU are highly mag res. Use rubies instead of facets.
Max. mastery instead of Stun.

The highest possible magic res is 50% and the lowest it can be taken to is 0.

anything over -50% mag res is a waste...

You sure about that? I am fairly certain that monsters can have much higher magic resist than that and that the 50% cap was player only.

Otherwise, it would mean that having 50% magic res would make a monster magic immune and there just isn't a lot of magic immune monsters out there.

Thats apparently right after a quick look through monstats.txt. I was sure i read on the phrozen keep that the only way to raise magic resists over 50% was to have modifiers like magic resistant and mana burn. Saying that though, the LoS sorc has no modifiers and has 100% making her immune. Bosses appear to have 66% magic resist in hell so any more than that would be a waste. I know you cant take it into negatives for sure.
Zerk will never be as useful as physical attacks + cb and amp without a very very high dmage weapon like an eth rare thunder maul/collosus blade. Gris caddy's damage is to low to be of much use later, especialy with no cb.

Ya - definitely a better wpn choice out there other than Gris caddy. Even a nice eth rolled rare or death craft would be better. Since your physical dmg is converted to magic dmg, seems to make sense to me to go with a high dmg wpn and Gris Caddy just doesn't fit that bill.

the negative points to monsters res doesnt remove immunities like lower res and conviction can does it?

The reason I would use those facets is for damage though. Since your damage is based on that and not your weapons damage.

It doesnt convert damage in this mod. Not only does the skill not say it converts physical to magic damage, but I tested on single player. :)

berserk damage is based on your weapons damage or there would be no damage being done. There is no actual damage on the berserk skill. It converts physical to magic

how do you go about testing it and missing it completely?

its based on weapon damage, no questions about it. it doesnt do flat magic damage.
