I have some claws lets say 3 open sockets.

If I were to place topaz's in the sockets, will the - light res help with my traps?

If so :D If not then what to put in the claws?

Thanks!

My main hand?

As in, if I am using 2 claws for weapons, I can socket both and it works, but if I hit W lets say, to teleport, then it does not work. Is this true?

Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure both main and off-claw work for traps since they're considered spells. It doesn't work for things such as DTail or the Phoenix moves because you always attack with your main claw using those attacks.

But for traps, I believe it works. My brother tested it awhile back with his firetrapper and said it did. I know +% fire damage works on your off-claw for sure, but I believe -res works as well. I assume it's treated as a shield would be on any other character because you're not physically attacking, you're casting a spell.

Also, when he says "main-hand" he doesn't mean your second weapon set. He means when using dual-claws, one will be main-hand and one will be the off-hand.

And to be more precise, the main hand is the chars right hand. The weapon that gets equipped first ends up there no matter which hand you put it in on your char screen.

And btw, traps count as summons that spawns with your +/-stats. Not spells.

I had made tests on single player (TCP/IP) with 2 characters some years ago to figure out myself if - x to enemy element resistance from second claw were working or not, mainly for Venom with Blade Fury and meteors from Phoenix. All worked.

Now with all these people saying it doesn't work I just remade these tests, and with traps : I tested normal attack (uber gems in claws), Venom (and with Blade Fury), meteors from Phoenix, Fire Blast, Wake of Inferno, Shock Web and Lightning Sentry. All seem to work fine (some possible doubt with light)...

Unless there is a different rule in pvp/pvm or something I missed, I don't understand why you are stating -x to enemy element resist isn't working for the second claw.

Edit : I use HeroEditor to make those tests characters and I had noticed that when I created items with -x to enemy element resist as a magical feature it didn't worked at all; I had to put gems in the weapons' sockets. Maybe some people tested this issue with this kind of editor without using facets/gems and spread an incorrect conclusion (?).

The -res will work on the off hand with traps. I just done some tests on single player. It wont work with DTail for some reason (-res on the off hand) thats what I was basing it from. With pierce claws on main hand it took 5 kicks to kill an enemy. With pierce weap on the off hand, 5 kicks would only take the same enemy to 50% life.

I tested Dtail with 2 characters and indeed it does less damage with -x resist on the second hand than with the first... But damage are still higher than with no -x resist, and using 2 claws with -x resist deals more damage than with only the first hand. Buggy Dtail...
