Armageddon rw in a throw ax is a pretty badass idea, but you would want to be throwing as slow as possible, since your warning is VERY short before your axes run out and throwing your zod away will result in fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Besides, if I was rich and was to go for runewords I'd go for Last Wish + Temptation
Even with the boss phys res fix, a thrower will still not be viable vs bosses who counter (almost all of them?) unless there was some significant crushing blow on your weapons. If you can catch a party and make it through to hell, though, he's perfect for doing solo errands like Purification Glyph hunting, Leo runs, etc. The frenzy for fast running and the ability to hork makes him the perfect man for the job. I mean, I did 2man Hell Nihl with him, but I basically did nothing and a WC barb would have been more useful, which is usually the case outside of the errands he is good at.
So I'm caught in the same boat as you, Verb; how to make a thrower viable? The obvious solution seems like it would be to do elemental dmg, which is why I created my enchantress thrower
