I was curious about giving venom a try too..

Armageddon rw in a throw ax is a pretty badass idea, but you would want to be throwing as slow as possible, since your warning is VERY short before your axes run out and throwing your zod away will result in fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Besides, if I was rich and was to go for runewords I'd go for Last Wish + Temptation :)

Even with the boss phys res fix, a thrower will still not be viable vs bosses who counter (almost all of them?) unless there was some significant crushing blow on your weapons. If you can catch a party and make it through to hell, though, he's perfect for doing solo errands like Purification Glyph hunting, Leo runs, etc. The frenzy for fast running and the ability to hork makes him the perfect man for the job. I mean, I did 2man Hell Nihl with him, but I basically did nothing and a WC barb would have been more useful, which is usually the case outside of the errands he is good at.

So I'm caught in the same boat as you, Verb; how to make a thrower viable? The obvious solution seems like it would be to do elemental dmg, which is why I created my enchantress thrower :P.

So I had an idea, does -enemy psn damage stack from both weapons? in that case you could try rolling 2 rare eth winged axe/ghost glaive and get some decent 450% +ed roll and just 4 socket that with 4 uber emeralds.
So if they stack from both weapons you got -96% enemy psn res there just from the weapons wich is pretty awesome.
Then when the fix for phy comes you'll be doing decent if not good damage with the phy and psn combined.
Though the problem is still the super fucking fast attack speed...

Neat idea Verb. Aren't they increasing the replenish rate by like 400%? You shouldn't be as worried about the attack speed then :P
EDIT: if you're talking about the wep running out completely and disappearing, that doesn't happen with any item besides runewords afaik

And the -res should stack from both weapons. Add an Arduals Icon for self LR ftw

I forget where, but Frank was talking about a really legit poison set up that I think would work really well with what you're trying to accomplish.

Here you are being innovative and I'm still trying to figure out how to make my thrower do decent physical dmg lol

modifiers from dual wielded weapons don't stack, the mods for each weapon are saved in a temp file until the swing is finished, then the file is flushed and loaded with the next weapons mods for the off hand swing. this is true of all stats on items, lifesteal, pierce, cb, ds, openwounds, etc. etc. it's all handled .dll side.

eh tried it on mine only one point in throw mastery [19] and lvl 49 venom pre buff did well at frigid wp on small creatures those shred em siege beasts hardly hurt em, also only used two magic throw weps lol

I made a venom barb and tried a mix of things out with it. Throwing seemed much worse then switching between frenzy, zeal, and ww. The dmg for a venom barb is not bad but not great. I didn't hit 99 yet, i think he's 97 atm so that's without brain for 3 more to venom. Venom thrower is fine and all and should do ok if that's what you want to do but i'd recommend using ww as a main or frenzy for the 20 dr%.

Had lvl 60 or so venom (don't remember exactly) and switched to - poison res gear after the venom pre-buff.

yeah the great thing about being a thrower is that you max frenzy aswell, so I'm considering going frenzy if I do the venom thing.

Well my concern with the weapon speed slappy is the counters you cause...there has to be a way to deal with this...or maybe there's bosses that only do a certain kind of counter that are easily nullified.

well with poison you only need to apply it once, so you don't need to keep throwing :)

hehe np I'll find some later, cant even use them anyway... I think abominae had 1 or 2 gona see if I can trade for them later when I get slightly higher lvl on my thrower.
