Credit to Verb for this idea.

Throw weapons such as Gimmershred are classified as Axes. Verb and I actually tried out some Ax only runewords in these type of "Throw Axes", and they worked! (even though they disappear when they run out zzzzz)

So the question was raised- How would the ax mastery affect the use of throw axes???

On my thrower I have throw mastery maxed, ofc, and today I put a point into ax mastery, but did NOT see any increase in my Double Throw dmg, but my frenzy damage DID increase(using throw axes). However, it seems my attack rating has increased quite a bit for both attacks. My question now is- How about the critical strike? I think using Frenzy it will apply since all other values from the mastery did, but I'm unsure whether it will while using Double Throw.

Thanks in advance.

axe mastery works on throwing axes in melee only. spear mastery works on javelins in melee too. they don't work when they are thrown though as thrown missiles use a function that reads the throwing damage only.

thanks for clarifying PureRage

based on that, is it safe to assume that the crit is not being factored into the throw either?

not from axe mastery, from throwing mastery, yes.

slappy, do you think its worth geting 1 point in axe mastery anyway for the extra ar? or do you get enough ar as it were before?

honestly I didn't look at my AR when I hit the button, but from what PureRage is saying, it doesn't apply to your throw, only to your melee.

I spent quite a bit of time frenzying because I didn't want to run out of axes so quickly, so it was definitely worth the one point, however now the axes will be more free to throw since they will regen faster so maybe not?

Although, in a situation where you DO run out of axes, since your Frenzy is (should be) maxed you will still want to be able to do decent damage, in which case the 1 point is worth it.
