I'm looking for some cookie cutter builds. I've searched through the forum, and I'm sure they're there and I'm overlooking them.

For my 1st go around I want to know what I'm doing. I screwed around once only to find out so much is unlike D2 (which is good). I'm looking at potentially a summon necro or trapsin hopefully. My bro has started a poison zon. I got a light trapsin to 17 on his comp over the weekend screwing around, but didn't like it much.

I'm thinking I'd want something that was strong at solo, but I haven't gotten open bnet working yet. I'm sure I'll be party oriented when I do.

Also, have builds like hammerdins been toned down? I'd hope so. I hated playing other paly versions just because everyone was a paly.

Thanks

E: Oh thank god. I got bnet working. I need to help my brother figure it out for windows 7 now.

Pzn builds are most popular right now:
You'd be pretty safe with a rabies druid. Oak and lycanthropy for great life, pzn for stupid amounts of dmg.
Pzn Javazon pwns too. Max decoy for a super imba tank
Then ofc poison nova necros are great + your meat shield of 1 pointer summons

Stay away from physical dmg builds.. you will regret it once you get to Hell.

Poison necro sucks, it simply doesn't stay alive long enough to poke a boss.

Trying a rabies at the moment, I'd imagine it oculd stay alive much better however.

Poison zon is just retardedly strong, it's literally stronger than hammerdins are on normal d2, kills bosses faster too.

How about no poison builds? My bro will probably go psn zon so I'd like to be another element.

I heard about the issues with melee and have avoided them.

Any links to skill guides? I've seen weird stuff like max fade, max iron golem, etc which is far different than normal D2. I'm loving the mod so far.

Bone nec would be good, w/ max lr and blades. Your teeth will speed up the trash killing. Blades can assist on tanking. And lr will help to kill them nice and fast.

I played a rabies druid to ~28 last night and I'm not sold on him. His tanking ability seems pretty weak. His trash damage is nice, but I didn't feel I was contributing on bosses.

What sort of build would be a decent solo'er?

What builds are boss specific? Trash seems to be very easy.

Dow lower resist lower poison resistance?

I'll take a look at all the recommended builds.

as a rabies druid you're not supposed to tank, you're supposed to have oak(huge hp boost for everyone wich is very important) and do crazy amount of damage.
Basicly you just do hit and runs, walk up to the boss do a couple rabies attacks, then run away.
Get some summons and they can tank for you and just spam them while you're waiting for the psn to run out and then apply it again. The first wolf summon is good I've heard because of its low cooldown.
Rabies is one of the best solo builds in the game atm.

Yeah, Converted@d2jsp.

I believe you once sent me a picture of your balls to make Xand and Noctres jealous.

If your brother is making a poison zon, don't make a rabies druid as the damage doesn't stack. Go for a necro.

I thought rabies operated separately from other poison sources. I believe they do stack.

I've been learning that as we did the A2 pieces last night. I know to max psn vine, rabies, and oak. I'm unsure where to move after that, but as you mentioned one of the summons may be good as a tank. I'm just not sure which.

Thanks. It wasn't the case in vanilla so I wanted to be sure.

I've found quite a few that agree with you. I think maybe I was thinking rabies could kill and other psn could get you to 1hp.

In pvp Rabies can kill because it does initial damage on infection and has a chance to reinfect the target that reinfected is what kills you. As far as pve all poison can kill.

Rabies doesn't stack with any other poison damage, if you add venom for example on your character, the damage won't stack with rabies and is separate it will use the highest source.

Ok. I just hear rumors from everyone in game and on the forum. I was told rabies will stack with a zon's attack for example and as well as my psn vine. The zon psn would override my psn vine though.

Stack? no.
Play nice? yes.

Scenario:
Zon hits monster and then druid hits monster. Zon DPS > Druid DPS
Monster is poisoned with zon's attack AND infected with rabies. Rabies does no dmg until the duration of the zon's attack is complete. Once it is complete. then the rabies dmg will kick on.

Obviously it is possible for the zon to reapply her psn which means the druid's rabies will never do dmg. This is why you generally don't want to play both in the same game.

Scenario 2:
As above, but Zon DPS < Druid DPS.
I could be wrong, but I am willing to be that the rabies will win out. Or maybe it will be just like the above scenario. Never bothered testing.

Bottom line though - two sources of psn in a game is not very useful. Rabies is a little better than others, but still pretty useless. Playing with 2 psn zons in the same game is basically just playing with 1 zon.

Blue, that is very useful info. I'll keep on my druid until I get my brother on and then one of us will be a bone necro I'm sure.
