This is probably covered.. somewhere. I read a bit about it but I already forgot what I read so it would be easier for me to just ask.

The holy auras of the a3 mercs. It stacks with conviction? Does it stack with conviction when the source is either of us?

Does the - resist of the holy aura increase as the a3 merc levels up?

To get down to the root of my question: what's the most -resist possible to get? does -resist make "immune" monsters no longer immune? I am guessing no but I just want to make sure.

I get confused about this, but I think the general answer is "yes"

no - I believe it is fixed at -10

-100% is as low as you can get a monster too. That may require more than -100 resists though. Example: Monster has 50% fire resists, you will need -150% to get that monster to -100%.

yep.
it takes extra to break immunes though:

Immune monsters are only impacted by 1/5 the effect of Curses and Conviction. So a lower resist of -75%, you will only do -15% resist to any monster with 100% resists. This penalty applies to Holy Auras, Conviction, Lower Resist, Amplify Damage and Decrepify. All other sources of -resist cannot break immunities so they do 0% unless the immunity is broken, in which case they will apply their full value.

Example:
Normal Cow King has 106% fire resist. In order to break his immunity you will need (7% x 5 = 35% lower resists)
Hell Diablo has 125% fire resist. In order to break his immunity you will need (25% x 5 = 125% lower resists)

Holy Auras/Conviction and Lower Resist will stack to try and break the immunity additively. Even if one source would break the immunity though, both LR and Holy Auras/Conviction *still* only operate at 1/5 effectiveness. Example: Hell Radament has 100% cold resist. A Necromancer and a Holy Freeze paladin attack him. Even though the paladin's aura will break the immunity, the Necromancer's Lower Resist curse will still only operate at 1/5 effectiveness. The -resistance on the Holy Auras uses the same property as Conviction and therefore won't stack with it. It acts as though there is another paladin running a lower level Conviction when you have both a Holy Aura and Conviction running.

Note: Conviction does not lower poison resistance.

Once an immunity is broken, sources of -resists from gear (such as socketted gems) will operate at full strength.

ex fix buy a set of javs from gheed equip them to throw ez lvling.
or buy a 3 os bow put ggems in it nother ez lvling

Different auras lower by different percents. Fire is -10 iirc, but cold is -20.

According to the site it's -20% across the board. Only exception is magic with does not get pierced by act3 mercs. It does stack with conviction.

Ya - Shantu's stuff is now out of date.

I looked it up in the txt files:

Paladin holy fire/shock/freeze: -10% res
Merc's use the same aura except for holy freeze, there is something called "MercFreeze" that doesn't seem to have a clear -resist effect. It is probably there though and I just can't see it. Or maybe it does the -20% and that is where the confusion between the auras being different has started.

Either way - the answer seems to be -10% resist

holy aurau thought it was only light fire cold and psn on a3 mercs for minus res no - phys ei holy or magic unless i misunderstood as far as with out gear

did you put stat points in? in the first area you can go poke monsters with a broken stick and kill them.

yeah actually i didnt know i had to put 1 pt in dex before i could hit anything

btw javs take lvl 3. at least the ones i got did

yeah, once when I made a new druid I took psn creeper first but forgot to put into ene/dex. It was nearly impossible to lvl up alone.

yea... you actually don't even have ANY attack rating as a sorceress and 5 dex (base). I put all my points into vit one time (and my skill into warmth) and COULD NOT hit anything. Literally could not touch anything, had to remake her

ardys icon = 26% pierce
convic = 26% pierce
shock = 10%

62% total skill pierce (break immunes up to 112 resist)
