Fired up a Sacrifice/healer paladin last night and I am sort of enthusiastic about the project. Both skill paths have pretty low synergy requirements, so I think this could work out:

Prayer - 20
Sacrifice - 20
Redemption - 20
Holy bolt - 10?
Holy shield - 10?
Zeal - 10?
1pt'rs - conversion, cleansing, res fire/light/cold (maybe conviction, requires a lot though!)

Will have to see how it plays out. With the high single target dmg of Sacrifice, I think I can load up on life leech and make a pretty solid tank especially with a strong prayer running. Going to shoot for strong blocking and high defense. As I am a paladin max resists should be very viable even in Hell as Paladin shields get a very nice resist boost. Will have to play with different combinations of high mdr/pdr, defense, leech, AR, etc to really see what works best- I suspect there are lots of good ways to do this though.

Currently I have an A1 fire merc and I will probably stick with her until A3 NM and then switch over to a caster merc of some sort. I might switch out in A3 norm though, but I have a feeling I won't bother. I do want some sort of strong damage dealer so that I can solo some low areas now and then.

For party play, I will either be the tank roll or switch my gear around for full blown healer support. Seems like that will keep me useful in team games.

conviction diverts a whole bunch of points. I am really hoping to be able to use it via a scepter skill if I can.

or make a purity shield, this way u can have a constant heal and have another aura up.

conversion is a must easy source of amp and tanks.

would depend on the equip route he takes. caster equip will be enough to have it as a 1 pointer, sinking points into it will help alot more early game most likely if he chooses to equip more as a melee.

What is ci bonus?

I just started a Redemption Paladin but I'm going a different route than yours.

Redemption reduces curse duration by 25%, so if you combine it with other curse reducing skills such as fade you can become immune to curses. This is very desirable. People will sometimes equip holy weapons (which have redemption on equip) for this very reason.

ah i had never noticed. pretty ballin' synergy since you generally hack away at your red ball a fair bit.

I started one aswell after seeing your post and i must agree I am lev 19 with 2 points in sacrifce and every other point in prayer and he doesnt die his health bearly drops soloed the smith in a 4 player game.

The only thing I'm wondering about is how well will he do in higher difficulties?

And what about iron maiden being cast on you mid swing?

Iron maiden would probably really suck.

I am a little over lvl52 with this guy now and at WSK2 waypoint thinking about tackling the big Baal quest. Current gear is:

+3 def aura circlet with 4x perf diamonds
Iron Pelt uniq armor (+3 def aura) socketed with perf diamond
Sig glove & belt.
Rare boots with +resists
Alternate between Iron stone (damage) and a +3 prayer scepter
Holy craft amulet with medit aura
Stone of Jordan and rare +1 pala ring.
Safety craft shield with 3x perfect skulls for damage reduction.
Steelclash shield & Rusthandle on switch for Holy shield buff.

Life is around 1300

I have kept my block rate at around 40% and my defense is pretty high, so I can usually stand in a mob and not worry about damage. With the dual heal rate (my +heal is around +120 right now) from the medit and prayer my life regens very quickly

Despite seeming to be a rather strong tank, this guy got whipped by Korlic when I did the ancients quest. I didn't have the skull'd shield for that quest - so that might be a part of it. I stood toe to toe with Korlic though to try and keep him from leaping, but he would still do what seemed like a leap attack and wipe out my whole orb.

Similar story with the white dragon. Despite max cold resists, she was kicking me around the room like a rag doll. Was rather disappointing.

I seem to do decent dmg against random monsters though, generally around 1/4 to 1/5 of their life per swing even in team games. I swing pretty slow with ironstone though - I think there is a better weapon some where, I just haven't tracked it down. Conversion of course rocks, especially converting those witch chicks in A5 with their mongo Amp damage. I have neglected my poor merc, so she kind of sucks. I will probably just hire a new girl in A1 NM.

I started putting points in Redemption around A4, but I noticed that it upped my damage so much that I was starting to take big chunks of out my life when hitting unleechables (such as undead). I switched over to maxxing out Sacrifice first to drop the %life taken per hit and will go back to dumping points in redemption once that has settled a bit.

Given my poor tanking, I have been diverting my attention to my healer role a bit (as you can probably see in my gear) by putting points in to Holy Bolt.

Personally I think I'll go more tanking wise I want to get some life leach gear. At lev 22 soloed Andariel was alone in the game and only used 2 pots.

As for a faster weapon I have a rakescar you can have to try out its less damage per swing but faster so less chance of interrupt. Another option is to make a Crescent Moon rune word 3 soc axe or sword you can get decent AIS and damage % especially if you make a superior weapon. Bonus you get to summon puppies.

Lawbringer is another option can be made in a scepter and you cast decrepif.

Loyalty any melee weapon and has a 3-5 conversion and redemption damage and AIS

These are with in you level range and all viable choices at least in my Opinion there are better ones at higher levels naturally.

Weapon problem solved. Rolled a loyalty which came out pretty well:

I also figured I would pop up some shots of his other gear. It isn't anything super powered or beyond the reach of what a lot of people should be capable of, so perhaps it is helpful to share:

Prayer is coming along nicely. Against Baal the prayer pulses quickly healed me after whatever baal threw at me. I was fully geared as a caster though and didn't wade in to the battle. I just supported the team with holy bolts and of course my whoppin +262 healin pulses

Nightmare now lays before me.
