Are these shrines essentially useless?

I mean they boost your xp gain for a short period of time, not enough to get you significantly ahead in the game. Then with the way you gain xp more or less based on level and how far into the game doesn't it essentially even out in the end anyways?

It seems to me they're essentially mathematically useless

i multi box'd 2 chars to level 30. at around lvl 7 my psn zon got an xp shrine and got half a level up on my necro. it stayed this way right to the late 20s. now has evened out.
useless? mostly.

IMO they should be removed so more poison/explosive shrines can spawn.

Steele enjoy's adding quality to threads.

But yeah getting rid of the useless ones for shrines like Fire could really add a nice dynamic to teh game.

why the fuck would you replace them with portal shrines?
stupidest idea in this thread so far.

Ok lets list all of the shrines.

Lightning resist
Psn resist
cold resist
fire resist
mana regen
health
gem
portal
fire
exp
exploading
psn death thing

Out of them, psn death thingi, exploading, exp are the useless ones. that is 3 out of 12 of them 20% of them. The increase in portal and fire shrines would be minimal however an increase in all of those shrines would make them a bit more playable in certain situations.

As it stands right now shrines aren't a consideration to players even if they're right there for a player to use.

You forgot:
Combat Shrine
Armor Shrine
Skill Shrine
Refilling Shrine
Mana Shrine
Stamina Shrine
Monster Shrine
Well

There are plenty. :) Perhaps I am naive, but I am always glad to see an XP Shrine. If there are some champ/unique mobs around, you can get a nice xp boost.
The most useless shrines are the Stamina (oh well, they do have some use under lvl10) and the exploding/poison ones. All the others have some use, although I never use the resist ones.
The main problem with shrines is that they are considered as curses by the game. Because of this, Cleansing/Spirit of Barbs reduce the duration of the boosts, and enemy curses remove them too.

I find value in all of them to be honest:

- monster, quick kill with goodies when I am doing MF runs
- psn shrines, big stack of psn pots (which sell for $$$) early in the game
- refill/mana/life, essentially a free full juv
- gem shrine - GODLY early game, only real way I know to get perfs early non-twink.

etc, etc

Some of you just need to think outside the box a bit ;)

My thoughts exactly. Couldn't have worded it any better. :D

monster shrines make the weakest unique and it doesnt even get minions.
psn pots selling for cash is useless when a chipped outsells it.
the refill ones are fine, more useful than the curse ones

hu is fun because of the challenge. wells at every corner would most certainly take away from that, no?

Again it's 3 out of like 25 shrines you won't have wells at every corner.

you just said a terrible reason for liking the mediocre shrine. if you are being amp'd its going to happen again. a well does a terrible job at that twice as good. nobody is saying wells in boss chambers or anything like that. but id rather take a free juv than any shrine in chaos or wsk

and if that wasnt bad enough, simply talking to akara for a heal or even a quick potion run completely removes the shrines effect.

this is a mod how about considering modding the shrines taking away the useless ones and increasing how frequently we find the ones that are left.
