Post subject:  Act 2 Merc Gear

Playing a lightning sorc. So the weapon is gonna be infinity and helm gonna be dream. Thinking of how to gear the rest for a level 70-80 merc.

Elemental set or crafted rings?
War travs or gore riders?
string of ears or?
unique or crafted gloves?
armor??

Also isn't any energy shield sorc build screwed by poison??? energy shield is great cuz you don't have to bother about resistances except poison. whats the point of pumping max mana and ignoring life+resistances? poison cuts u to 1 life in a few seconds. -.-

Use a whisp projector for SoB to counter poison and carry antidotes if you dont have a whisp.

For the merc I use:
Elemental set
Nos Coil
Mancers gloves and boots
Glassglare armour with a ber in it.
Infinity
Veil of steel with 2 ber
That gives him 50%dr 30% cold and light res, 20% fire res and decent resists

I use multiple setups for them however depending on what I'm doing. thats his farming setup.

For heavy AoE elemental bosses I use insight on him to counter the massive drain on energy shield from elemental damage and switch to dream helm for the pierce.

For Ancients way/citadel farming I use "Ice" runeword ghost glaive with a medusas shield for lower res. I use veil of steel with this setup to keep the 50%dr for chargers. The massive slow% from holy freeze and medusas is amazing and makes him pretty much unkillable.

Mix and match those setups depending on what you need most for the next area you are going into.

Hmmm. what should I put in my own sorc's sockets? Sapphires for max %mana or amn for cast rate or ohm for -% lightning resists?

Thats up to yourself really. I made a good light sorc last season who was mainly a farmer. For farming you only really need the pierce from fathom to be able to take down any mob in a cast or 2. I went for saphs for the extra mana. The more mana you have, the more mana you regain per second. You can go with facets if you want big numbers but TBH unless you are building her as a dedicated boss killer, its not really worth it.

Conviction from infinity will stack with holy shock from dream right?

Which would be better to use, HOTO or Oculus?

if u got the runes for the ZoD sorc wand ( maybe later ) use this and stuff ur merc with shild and 1hand faith runeword javelin


a2 merc goes to fast down in hell without shild, :)

I never had a problem with mercs being killed to fast on a caster. Fathom is 1000x better than knowledge and alot easier to get.
