 Post subject: Melee Nec's Impossible?

this has been annoying me for some time now, i want to do a melee nec but there arent any items for low level play. Crafting daggers(deadly to be specific), tch, not even worth the waste of materials, Low damage, and low durability kills this item class. Swords? too slow to swing in the hands of a nec. Scythes? they look geared for necros but just one problem: the only scythe based weapon worth using is hatred and thats ****ing lvl 90, and its not even really worth using.

necro's LOOK like they can be made to melee but in reality the idea is totally implausible, daggers are made of glass and scythes are too weak for ANY class to use

the only thing a melee nec would be good for is amp, considering he would have the points to max it other than that, nothing

this is what im trying to work with right now as a plan:
20 Bone armor
20 Bone wall
20 Bone Prison
20 Amplify Damage

100 str
100 dex
rest vit

endgame gear would be:
steelrends
Gore riders
WSG
Giant skull
War(archon plate)
weapon???
Shield????

there is however a distinct lack of mid and early game options, other then get rushed or be useless in a party, so i'm at a loss here

for a weapon around the level 70-80 mark, try making chaos in a staff. I have a ww sorc that uses chaos in a shilleagh (spelling?) that works out pretty good. around 500 damage on the weapon and a little boost to str. The knives having low dura is indeed a waste of time. Before that she was geared as a caster as weapon choices were near useless. 1 point in ce will be enough to do some solo leveling at least.

Use the ele set at 75 to get some decent elemental dmage to that ww and try to focus gear on ele damage to attack in order to get damage to something near usefull.

20 bone armor

20 bone prison (or just use marrowalk boots :D )
10 amp
20 ce

the idea is to use eth zodded fleshripper ^^ fun and cool, maybe powerfull necro. fleshripper has a huge dmg and huge dual leech, and the best part is that it gives zeal oskill.

gear:

eth zodded fleshripper ofc
giantskull helm (cb ftw)
leviathan armor (dr plox)[or war]
ward shield (with sorb gems or dr)
goreriders boots (cb!!!!!)
steelrends gloves (cb again)
wsg belt
metalgrid (AR!!!!)
dual blood rings


hurry up and do the necro!!! this wont be able to make if mancer implement the new patch... cb and amp wont exist(almost) there =(

meh i already have rends, gores, giant skull, metalgrid, thats no problem.

and BTW rage, Chaos is 62 and can be done in daggers, so im gonna do it in a cinquedas.

oh and lastly the so called "passive" stats on bone armor are only applied when armor is up and works on ALL weapons

PS. i also doubt theres gonna be anymore updates on HU

the reson I made it in a staff was the betterdamage, better range and no need to repair every 2 mins (really annoying). Its also alot better for leeching life back.

btw blue, any word on increasing wands range to 2? I could actually set my necro up as a melee as he has around 7k phys damage with boneshade. The horrible range and no real attack skill is the only thing preventing that at the min.

save yourself a zod and use ghostflame. The fact that these weapons have a range of 1 and zeal has a hitcheck of 2 means that you miss more with a range 1 weapon using that skill.
