Hey guys, Awesom mod!

Got bored of the ease of regular D2 now

Playing single player, just had a roam round with a sorc and a paladin. Looks like overpowered sorcs in normal may have been nerfed a bit here? I could be wrong...

Anyway, just wondering whats a good viable build for Hell Unleashed? I like to play less powerful builds on regular D2 but i can see its no messing around here.

well a ww barb can solo very well and they are personally one of my favorites

pretty much any kind of paladin can solo also but the most suited would be either a hdin or zealer/smite

Melee classes that I've played (mainly solo) and enjoyed -

- WW Barb (S/Shield with 2 1-handers on switch)
- Frostbite Druid (Werebear + Hurricane + Frostbite)
- Zeal Paly
- Assassin (Dclaw, Dtail)

Nonmelee that I've played (mainly solo) and enjoyed -

- Golemmancer
- Lightning sorc (she's in progress but very playable)
- Ice Zon

Best things to keep in mind are -

- Find a way to buff your life (Oak Sage, Battle Orders) although if you're playing the Solo Edition of the mod, this isn't QUITE as important.
- Get yourself a merc that suits your play style (A1 Physical mercs = strong, A2 mercs = good support/aura stackers, A3 = supplements casters/elemental damage dealers, A5 = haven't used them but supposedly make okay tanks)
- If you pick a class that offers a tank summon, it's usually wise to throw a few points into it (if not max it, depending on the class). With zons, for instance, most builds leave points to spare, so max that Valk!

Since you'll need to be tanking bosses, most caster builds would be unviable for soloing the game. Don't let andariel fool you - duriel is where it gets near impossible.

I would say duriel is like the test of your characters ability to solo. If you can solo duriel then you'll probably be able to pass mephisto and diablo since they are in much larger areas, and don't charge you.

The solo test for casters is probably duriel, because all of the other bosses behave way differently. Now, of course, this neverminds immunes, but if you do have two types of elements available (sadly, unlike most casters) you should be fine for else. The solo test for melee characters are ancients, because you have to tank a boss that can one hit you. Durr. :/

Never played single player, but I assume Frostbite Bear could destroy it. Elemental damage as well as the ability to use CB and physical damage seems gg.

Build pretty much goes:
Max Frost Bite
Max Hurricane
Max Cyclone Armor
Max Lycanthropy
Max Oak Sage
1 in Spirit of Barb
1 in prerequisites.

Only probably with the build is it definitely requires tons of skill points, and you need to balance your damage and health through building him. Also weapon damage doesn't matter too much, what you want is the fastest weapon possible, as Frost Bite adds straight cold damage. The faster you can apply that (and FB gets incredibly fast) the better off you are.

Decided to go for a Zealot, Currently level 28 in act 2! This game is alot of fun.. Havnt had any problems yet, but i can see that big trouble lies ahead

yeah not sure if a zealot will be able to solo duriel, suppose you could but it will tkae awhile.

I've made it to act 5 norm with a zealot. The only reason I didn't continue him was lack of time. So, if he's playing the solo edition, he should be plenty o fine to make it just as far.

i destroyed duriel with my shitty holyfire zealer solo yesterday, level 31 with death set and hsaruus shield/boots, twitchthroe, nokozon relic and a rare hat/rings, actually one was nagel ring.

Ive killed dury with a blizzard sorc, Amp wand + tele merc. With meteor it would be easier as you could damage him yourself and tank with maxblock and enough juvs.

Seeing you say that made me remember something - I made a sorc a few weeks ago, got her to the 30s (somewhere in Act 3) but there's something that seems strange about her. When I mouse over her defense in the character screen, it doesn't display anything about chance to block. Nothing. Just chance to be hit. And yes, she's wearing a shield

Is this normal? To be frank, I haven't tested with another sorc, nor have I let mine stand around and wait for the block animation (been very busy with finals, at least I can post while at school/work) but I find it strange.

Back on topic, your zealot SHOULD be a viable build but you have to maintain max block as soon as possible (good shield socketed with Amethyst, Holy Shield, dex gear) and pump the hell out of your vitality.

If it displays no blocking chance, your character doesn't have enough shield block and dext to give it 1% block. So your character just has 0% block.

Huh. Makes sense. Just figured there may have been a minimum blocking chance, 5%, something. The lowest I'd previously seen is 7% on a level 2 zon or something.

Well the zealot is doing well so far, did duri and meph with no trouble, guess we'll have to see hey. Anybody have NM and hell exp with a zealot? I see alot of people saying should be ok through normal.

Is the land of shadows really that bad btw lol?

the land of shadows is a dream for the solo people... or a 5 days non-sleep-crap-eat-drink-fuck-etc quest that requires ubber pimped char and lots of strategy and gear swapping

not really, solo edition is alot easier than multiplayer and you can duo it on multiplayer. takes between 2-4 hours depending on builds. less if you are using certain op builds
